The Fifth Element

Well the DVD finally arrived today & I watched it as soon as I got home from work.

First impression: I really enjoyed it. It's fast, fun, colourful and loud. It's also a bit silly in places (the french humour) & yes I could have done without so much CT. I loved the soundrack, might get that as well.

Above all, it has the one thing I look for the most in movies - the rewatchability factor. There are some films that no matter how brilliant, I can only watch once every 2 or 3 years, then there are films that, regardless of how good or bad, I can watch time & time again. This is def one of those films, not only that but I can see my enjoyment growing with each viewing.

Overall I'd give it 8/10.

The Fifth Element is like a cathedral.

Beautiful to look at but devoid of any meaning or truth, a monument to a waste of an obscene amount of effort and money.

That's your opinion, mine is that it's a damn good film, great fx, looks amazing in HD, is rewatchable, has a great score and has a decent plot which is funny in some ares and doesn't take itself too seriously.
