The fate of your beloved Ducati

So I have been recently thinking about something and I thought I'd share. What will be the outcome of your bike(s)? Do you own to eventually trade up? Have you restored and have part of your soul invested? Is your bike relatively newer and therefore less "collectible" to you?
I own an 06 749s which many of you know. I have had various bikes in the past that I have traded here and there for other bikes. None of them however, have been quite as pricey, well engineered or as beautiful as my bike. Its not the fastest, it doesnt have the most hp, it doesnt have room for two and it is not the most expensive. Its newer and ridden, it is not a living room bike. For some reason though, I dont know that I will ever want to trade it up for anything.
Does anyone feel the same way or is the bike just a bike for you? There is no right or wrong, good or bad answer but I just dont see myself getting rid of this. Will all the time, money and elbow grease ive put in, I feel like this bike epitomizes ME. With proper maintenance and the care that ive invested from day one, this bike may in fact grow up with me.... I dont think I am indifferent enough to pass this off as "Some bike" for a trade in or any other reason. Am I alone?

a bike is a bike to me.

I'd rather ride the newest and the fastest that's out there than hold onto something that's like 50 years old.

No offense. Sweet bike btw.

I love by bikes until it's time to move on. Example, I loved my '06 MV Agusta until it had it's second cracked radiator and traded it in for the 1198 (which I now love). I keep my bike stock because, in a year or two, it will probably be gone as well.

I love the bike, very clean.

Some people are buy and hold and other are buy and upgrade. I think it has to do with your personality. I'm very much like you and seem to hang on to things I love for a long time. The only question that maters is if you love it? I would be happy to add a bike like this to my garage.

I am also like you. I will add more bikes to my garage in the future, but I LOVE my 848. Every time I take her out for a ride I just think about how much I love her, and how awful I would feel if something ever happened to her. I used to think that I would just keep her because she was my first bike and it's kind of sentemental, but I really don't think that is why... I genuinely LOVE this bike. :-)

My 848 is my first Ducati. I don't think that I will ever get rid of this one. Part of the reason I bought this bike is because I have always felt like Ducati's are timeless, unlike the Jap bikes. I have never enjoyed any bike I've owned, like I do this one!! I think that in the next year or two, I will aquire an 1198 to ad to the stable. Yeah, owning Ducati's can be addictive!!

For 15 years, I have worked very hard to get in the position to buy a Ducati. I remember looking at a poster of the 916 and saying I will buy one. Well that time has come and was able to get my dream bike, 2008 1098. I love the bike in all aspects. It is exactly what I dreamed of. I know that I will keep this bike. I will add something else down the road maybe a tourer of some sort. But this bike will stay with me.

i like to upgrade every 3 years or so, if i can afford it. to me a bike is just a bike. i try not to get to possessive over things. it is not always as easy as it sounds but like someone said the other day... history is gone dude.
