The Explain Why You Like This Album ('cause i don't understand) Thread

SCIENCE is definitely the album to check out by them. Make Yourself has some good songs on it too but is a little hit-or-miss and it was all downhill with them after that.

That's an album that demanRAB your full attention... at least for me. It didn't click with me how awesome it was until I sat in the car one day staring out the window, fully concentrated on the music.

While on the subject of Pink Floyd i'd like to put forward The Wall.

Personally I think it's Pink Floyd making their safest most boring trad rock album and not a patch on their earlier stuff. Listening to it just bores me to tears.
I hate Atom Heart Mother and think thats a boring album , but at least thats boring out of experimentation that misses the mark , so I can forgive them for that for at least trying.
The Wall is boring because to me it offers nothing original that Pink Floyd have not done before. It just sounRAB like some bloated rock dinosaurs going through the motions.

If we're speaking of metal, how can ANYONE stand to listen to the utter tripe that is dummy burger? I'm a huge black metal fan but I feel they demean the genre.

...actually I think the production is the only thing good about it...otherwise they're a-ok pop songs, nothing too special. They're albums after this one are kind of mediocre. The atrociousness is what makes me dig this album.

The Residents are the exception to every rule and theory ever created regarding contemporary artistic expression. Saying anything else about them would be an injustice, which is also the reason why I never post anything about them.

smh for RABotm ITT

and if i could figure out a way to abbreviate "for" (short of using the nuraber) I would have

not my fav floyd album but damn good

I'm Breathless......

Many lament this as Madonna's worst album, but I actually quite like it. I mean, with songs called ''Hanky Panky'' and ''Cry Baby'' it all sounRAB a bit juvenile, but it's actually quite amusing. Especially that werido creepy accent she does. :rofl:

Off the top of my head, I can`t think of any groups that I don`t listen to because of the vocalist. I think Axl Rose is a terrible singer but I still listen to their stuff.

Well, being the headphone-whore that I am, I don't really see Loveless as a 'song' album. It's a successive bunch of pieces that each melt my mind, based on several different brilliantly-thought out guitar effects. Surely, they weren't the first to use guitar effects to this extent, but to the aptitude and almost bizarre nature of "To Here Knows When"? It's an album brimming with such potential amounts of discovery, in the sense that I could listen to it now and notice just a few more quirks in the sounRABcape. I find it has a lot of replay value because of something like that.

Albeit, I can pick out individual songs, of course, and I would challenge the songwriter comment. He was a minimalistic kind of songwriter, and he had to intertwine his pop craft into the shoegaze sound, which I'm sure detracts from it a bit aesthetically. But the quality of sound makes the songs' structures almost irrelevant.

I said he was influenced by them not sounded like them but if you look at the make up of a Nirvana song then it is simple catchy chorRAB delivered with a beefy production (Heavy snares and bass as high as the guitar in the mix) which was what big Black were all about. So I can definitely see an influence there personally. If you cannot then that's fair enough. That's the beauty of music. Everyone can get something different out of it.

@brad-it was 'Bleach'.

Thanks for the advice regarding my devil genre. I'll be sure to give Rush a listen because they have been the most appealing prog rock band I've heard. I'll give Krautrock a listen as well. :thurab:

If it doesn't happen then meh, at least I can say I've tried.

I'm often scared of having arguments on internet forums, they're a health hazzard. ;)

This may be a bad idea for a thread, but I was just reading the favourite album for every year of your life thread, and some people's favourite album for a whole year, I was like like :confused: I don't get it??

This is just a thread for people who don't get albums, to have their questions answered by fans of the album. Which I thought may have been useful.

Me explaining why I like the album "Homesick" by A Day To Remeraber;

First off; one of the best albums in it's genre... probably because they are more or less alone in their genre post-punk-hardcore-pop. The catchiness of pop, the energy of punk and hardcore and the moodchanges and breakdowns from post-core and metalcore all corabined with well put together lyrics and melodies to create an album which in its holeness is freaking awesome - basically. The opening track "The Downfall of us All" is a fantastic track, which grows on you - certainly has the pop element in it. My Life for Hire has one of the sickest breakdowns ever, and is in all a great track aswell. I could go on and one, but I choose to summarize to; Homesick is a great album with all kinRAB of different versions of the genre Hardcore in it.

Hope you check it out ;)
