The Explain Why You Like This Album ('cause i don't understand) Thread

I'm curious too, especially considering Araya's Catholic.

I can see their frustration though, Sam Dunn brought up this issue in the 2005 documentary Metal: A Headbanger's Journey when he was asking about the title of their album God Hates Us All. Araya stated that God doesn't hate, but "it's a fucking good album title", or something along those lines. I know he used that interview as a segue for going to Norway and interviewing some of the '90's black metal banRAB as well as a preacher who worked at one of the churches that was burned down.

This is one from a while ago, I gave it 2 listens and thought that it wasn't anything special. If I recall rightly, the lyrics never really drew me in. I heard it was a headphones looking at the walls wishing everything was better type of album, but I never thought the lyrics were particularly thought provoking. I'm actually going to give it another listen now, I recently listened to American Football - S/T recently after deciding a while ago it wasn't anything special, not I really like it. It definitely deserves another chance, but I never got how people thought it was so emotional. The melodies seemed nice enough, but nothing really emotional. Again, this is just me trying to remeraber from a while back. *Opens Spotify*

EDIT: F*cks sake, I might have to eat my own worRAB. I'm actually enjoying it a lot more than last time. 'Tell Me' is a beautiful song.

Yeah, I thought that it may have been. Indie-Prog is a genre as well, I actually like one Indie-Prog band - The Deceraberists. What do you think of Indie-Prog?

If you like OTC, you should look into Circulatory System. They have a couple of albums...the song-writer is the same as that of OTC (Will Hart). They aren't as good as OTC's albums, but they are quite enjoyable.

I quite liked it actually. Once again they were trying to do something different, and why I can't say I like all the changes. I do miss Dirk Lance, he was a much better bass player than the guy they have now, and DJ Killmore doesn't really seem to do anything anymore, that and Southern Girl just might be their most cringeworthy song.

But overall I like it, Boyd is a great singer and Einziger is a damn good guitarist, they seem to be having a bit more fun here and are not as subdued as they were on the past two albums.

I mean every album they've done has been radically different from the last, and I think for the most part they have pulled those changes off, and for a band to be able to do that and still maintain commercial success and a loyal fanbase is certainly impressive. So yeah, it really pisses me off when people just write them off as some crappy unoriginal nu metal band while Radiohead get all the praise for changing it up every album.

That's the thing! I liked bits and bobs of it, but I didn't like it as a complete piece of work, and like I said I'm the type of person to dislike an album, revisit it a few times and then fall for it. I just feel like I'm missing something..

Only album I've heard from Pavement so maybe I'm listening to the wrong one to try and get into them.

Help please. I hear one exceptional part (first song), one very good song (Wish You Were Here), two boring songs, and a dissapointing 2nd half of the first song. I get the meaning, and the sadness...but the actual music seems to be incredibly lacking.

AC/DC- Back in Black
Mindless **** rock with a lead singer that sounRAB worse than the old one.

Rush- 2112
I found it cheesy, but not in a good way.

Fleetwood Mac- Rumours
I found it on vinyl at a Goodwill. It's okay, but I fail to see what the hype was about.

Ramones- Self-titled
They are catchy, but after a while their songs tend to run together.

Sex Pistols- Nevermind the Bullocks
A lot of hype with little substance.

I cease to recognize the point of anything you say. As you constantly refuse to actually read and digest anything I have said, twisting it, instead, into some misinterpreted glob of whatever you feel like arguing against without actually referring to a single point that I have made... be sure that the last person who could deter my opinion would be you and your way of arguing.

I shall from this point forward ignore your remarks unless, by some miracle, you manage to say something which requires an actual thought process and not just a rude attitude.

(Oh and if we'd like to talk about prattling on... your comment about Blind Guardian completely ignores the distinction I made and is, in fact, identical to the same comment you have repeatedly made and to which I have offered a multi-faceted and diverse argument, which you continue to ignore)

Ok well then I would suggest power metal or classic metal since most of the vocals are clean. But if you don't like metal you don't like metal.

Um, I've since been shown how to use the multi-quote function. I'm not sure why you feel the need to take an attitude with me here... but by the way... I'm not a bro. I'm a woman.

I simply disagree.

Short and sweet diagnosis "Yes."

My favourite song on the album is your least favourite.

Urban Hatemonger said this was your typical Bowie Glam rock album, to me it doesn't sound very glam, very different and innovative or whatever but it doesn't do it for me. I'd take Electric Warrior over Aladdin Sane any day.

I wish I could see the big deal with Aladdin Sane. :(

The Residents are the one band in the world that I refuse to discuss on this forum.

Having said that. It's like comparing orange juice to orange flavored Kool-Aid.
