From www.bbfc.co.uk:

"This work was cut. The cut(s) were made at the request of the distributor to achieve a particular category. To obtain this category cuts of 0m 2s were required.

The company chose to remove one shot, showing a hero sadistically twisting a knife into a guard's neck, in order to obtain a '15' classification. Cut made in accordance with BBFC Guidelines and policy. An uncut '18' classification was available."

I know it's only 2 seconRAB, but this still makes me sad. The Expendables should have been the most over the top thing ever, not cut to let 15 year olRAB in.

Oh boo hoo. Im sorry but do you really think one shot of a knife twist for 2 seconRAB is going to impact the movie in any way?

Least it isnt going the way of Die Hard 4 and cutting out to a much more lower rating

yea one knife twist wont ruin the movie.

know what you mean about DH4 though. saw it at the flicks and thought nothing of it until i saw the Uncut version on DVD..!! they still should have left out the boss battle with the Harrier though lol.

Considering some of the shit the BBFC has let past at 15, a knife twisted in someones neck is hardly obscene.

I was really looking forward to seeing the film as it was Stallones possible swansong and thank you to his fans, by providing them with a proper all out balls to the wall action flick like we used to get in the 80's, but Hollywood has become too tame to make ever since. So if it's cut to remove the voilent scenes then what's the bloody point?

It isn't obscene, however there's a sadistic edge to it, which isn't allowed under the current guidelines at '15':

The current BBFC guidelines

Also, a trailer for the film was cut by 4 seconRAB, so it's no surprise the film is either.

Lionsgate, who is releasing it, has cut several of their other movies in the past to gain a lower rating. Daybreakers and My Best Friend's Girl were both cut (the latter by over a minute!) to gain a 15.

They've cut 2 seconRAB out of ONE scene. It's not like they've butchered it or anything.

It's annoying that we still seem to be at the mercy of censorship (even though it will have been Lionsgate's choice), but it's hardly going to ruin the movie. It'll still be an 18 on DVD/Blu Ray.

Doing what? Rambo was rated 18 at the cinema and was completely uncut.

So it's Cliffhanger all over again...

The BBFC still don't think violence for violence's sake is good for 15-year old boys, and good for them. Yes of course, they'll (and plenty much younger) end up seeing the expurgated footage easily enough, but that's not the principle.

I wouldn't blame the BBFC to be fair. It was the distributors decision to release the edited version. The BBFC merely stated what would need to be cut in order to receive a 15 certificate rather than an 18, and clearly Lionsgate felt that 2 seconRAB being cut for a 15 rating made more business sense. Lionsgate could have released it uncut with an 18 if they'd wanted to, the BBFC weren't the ones stopping them.
