Was on tonight on BBC2, anybody watch it??? Is it good???

Wanted to watch it, i did watch for 20 mins but miss bits out as i was making dinner - so then just changed it to something else, as i hate missing bits out from the movies i watch, will have to get the DVD

Is it any good?!?!

You mean you haven't seen it?!!?

Scary!

It's possibly my favourite film of all time.

I cried watching it again ;)

Don't watch it if you expect fast pace and action. It's slow, deliberate, and beautifully shot...

It was absolutley beautiful.

It was the first time I saw it last night, after scores of people had told me that I would love it, I was not disappointed.

I felt a tremendous empathy for each of the main characters as the acting was truly amazing!

I demand that those of you who didn't see it in the cinema, make requests to your local arthouse cinema for a showing. It is truly amazing on a cinema screen...

Sorry guys, but I thought it sucked, really sucked. Implausible, sentimental tripe.... Its only saving grace was the Juliet Binoche sub-plot and some decent cinematography.

I don't see it as sentimental at all. I see the basic plot of the story as being pretty common in life. A lot of people fall in love with the wrong person and events take odd turns.

Setting it on a grander scale to make it cinematic doesn't make it sentimental...

Have you read the book?

One of the few films worth watching more than once. You have to engage your brain for this one. All the main characters are complex and you can involve yourself with them and the story. Love and War - usually can't beat it for a good tale well told.

I have read quarter of the book, but feel i should watch the movie, then read the book, in that way i can get into the book more

I agree - I thought it was really good, I thoroughly enjoyed it, and I am glad that I've seen it, but it was SOOO sad I wouldn't watch it again - I like a nice happy ending! Much like Moulin Rouge - I thought it was wonderful, but couldn't see why Satine had to die.

I just watched this, it came on filmfour, i liked it, i cried at the end.

Amays crying whilst carrying Katherine - just made me cry

The letter she wrote got me crying in the first place :(

My darling. I'm waiting for you. How long is the day in the dark? Or a week? The fire is gone, and I'm horribly cold. I really should drag myself outside but then there'd be the sun. I'm afraid I waste the light on the paintings, not writing these worRAB. We die. We die rich with lovers and tribes, tastes we have swallowed, bodies we've entered and swum up like rivers. Fears we've hidden in - like this wretched cave. I want all this marked on my body. Where the real countries are. Not boundaries drawn on mapswith the names of powerful men. I know you'll come carry me out to the Palace of WinRAB. That's what I've wanted: to walk in such a place with you. With frienRAB, on an earth without maps. The lamp has gone out and I'm writing in the darkness.
