The End of Most Haunted...

My wife loves MH never misses it insists on recording the week long specials. I can take or leave it have got bored with the women constantly shrieking & geting hysterical because one of them got a darught up their skirt!

But then that is part of the amusement in watching it.

I'll be sorry to see it go (if indeed it is going)

I do have some fond memories of Most Haunted especially the forums on RAB and the Most Haunted Bistro...I think we hammered the last nail in the Most Haunted coffin.

What am I gonna do with that plasma tied to the chimey, and all the shopping supplies I have from the last MHL?...I suppose they can be used for the new show Paranormal Investigation Live?

Will any older or new MHL forum members be watching the new show with a tongue in cheek..?

I hope it surprises us, but I have serious doubts about that if its a Beattie/Antix/Chuckle Brothers, Cousin Itt co production...If it an Antix Production I bet Ivy is busy typing up the scripts at this very moment..lol..I hope the new presenter chants like the good ole days of Eeeeedddeeee Bbbbaaaacccccoooooo..brilliant!

It stopped being entertaining for me when DA left, I only watched it to see him and his antics. Since then the odd ones I have watched have been dire, I have watched just about all of the lives in the hopes that one day they catch something real and really poop their pants ;)

I am glad it is being replaced, they have flogged that dead horse so hard in the last few years I am surprised there is anything left.

I used to watch MH all the time and I even went to one of Derek's shows to see what it was like (to be honest - far to many 'Is there a John here? Do you know Mary?' type of things going on there).

However I've not watched it seriously for years now. And if I do watch it now it's just to laugh at what happens - it's all too far over the top and fake nowadays.

I remember back when MH first started, there was another paranormal show then as well although I can't remember the name of it. It had 6 people - 3 sceptics and 3 believers travelling around the country in a bus investigating paranormal stuff. There was an element of reality TV in the show because the 6 people were strangers who applied for the show so you had the whole 'getting to know you/I hate her/I hate him' stuff from the group and although it didn't quite work (it was far too dependent on the personalities and skills of the 6 - and most of them didn't have any) with a bit of tweeking it could've done better. If it had more people in the group so that you're not so dependent on just 6 people, have the sceptics look for natural reasons behind the 'paranormal' activity whilst the believers investigated the paranormal aspect and make it more a competition between the 2 groups and get rid of the over the top pantomine scary-voice-over-man and have a 'fairly serious' voiceover instead it could've worked a lot better.

The problem with Most Haunted now is that it's shown on LivingIT alongside the US Ghosthunters imports and GhostHunters take it so much more seriously (although there is a lot of hammy acting in there as well).

As for Yvette and Karl - they're off to ITV2 now and I think they've signed a new contract with them for another paranormal show?

That show was the Scream Team... and I enjoyed it too... Phil Wyman was a complete novice in that and then he went on to do most haunted. I loved that one... I remember being scared when they tried to burn the "cursed" picture and when they walked round an old building backwarRAB to meet the devil... I enjoyed the "coach trip" style interaction too.... but perhaps it couldnt move on any further...I don't know if it would have the same appeal now...

It was funny when Karl did that, but the YT clip just highlights why I couldn't stand the show in the end. Karl became a simpering, patronising, pr*ck, and Yvie became the barking boss, shouting at the 'team' whenever they stepped out of line.

Also as it went on, you realised more time was spent on competitions, phone ins, and the dirge of advert breaks, that you realised it was more about making money rather than making paranormal discoveries.

Look on the bright side. At least we will not have to put up with watching how Yvie and Karl spent all our money, in one of those painfull 'fly-on-the-wall' documenteries any more!

The programme worked when you had Derek hamming it up and there was some level of genuine investigation and the team were new to it all themselves. Felt at the start that they were genuinely scared at times and the faking / exaggeration was kept in check to some extent.

Obviously as time went by they felt they had to up the ante so things got progressively sillier and they always had to find an extra
