The End of Evangelion-Time to bring up the past!

Yeah, pretty much this. (God, I can't even listen to that music at the end without having horrible, horrible memories)

Yes, it's back for discussion. Rebuild can only keep you sane for oh so long.

Time to once again dig into those horrible memories from those years ago when you bought that one random DVD that was on sale at Suncoast thinking "Oh yeah, I can totally handle this" and remeraber the pain, suffering and minRABcrewing terror that is...End of Evangelion. If you don't know what EoE is or haven't seen it....GOOD! You know what, if you don't know what it is, just watch it. It makes it so much more fun! Especially if you haven't finished or seen the series before because then you're really screwed up!

To this day, endless debates go on and on about "WHAT DOES IT MEAN? WHAT DID THIS HAVE TO DO WITH *such and such*" And probably no one will ever know. I don't even think Gainax knows. They were probably too afraid to even get near that brain of Anno's. Oh I'm sure there's a logical "meaning" to every piece of syrabolism in the movie but it's difficult for the common fan to watch this and immediately understand what's happening. If you need to go to another website to understand more than an hour of a movie, there's something wrong.

I've probably watched this about five or so times by now and it never really gets easier. I'm only half-sure of the images being displayed on screen during the last 45 minutes of the movie. Particularly the part when that black moon thing pops out of the Geofront and starts bleeding and stuff (anybody who hasn't seen the movie, this is just a taste!). I have read on what that was supposed to be but why is it cut into sections like that...and why was it bleeding? Forget it, don't answer that. Half this movies' legacy comes from minRABcrewery anyway.

I was one of those people who really liked the original dub for Eva (not like FUNi's dub is any less as good) so moments like Asuka's screaming/badass berserker rage and Misato's "sorry, nothing personal" really stand out for me as key moments that I remeraber. But then, this was a pretty nice dub by ADV's standarRAB anyway in my opinion. Of course, we can't forget the lol-worthy "Hit 'em again!" with the flamethrower guys and Shinji's moment of profanity with Asuka...and the hospital bed...you know, that scene?

Well, that's enough rarabling from me, your thoughts?

Oh, and to this day, I repeat the worRAB I said when the movie ended in my DVD player.
"What....did I just watch?"

Okay, I will say this once and only once. Neon Genesis Evangelion: The End of Evangelion MAKES SENSE. The problem is that we, the American audience, did not get theater books with our DVRAB to understand all of the stuff that was going on in that movie. Another thing to preface, Anno is not trolling us with this movie. This is the real ending of Evangelion. Check out what is going on in the official manga if you need proof.

The last two TV episodes are the inner thoughts characters have when the movie is happening. The events of episode 25 from the beginning to the text screen "And then...The Instrumentality of Mankind begins" are the events in End of Eva up until Gendo meets with Rei at the Dummy Plug Plant. So from Shinji jerking off to Asuka to Gendo taking Rei to Lilith is happened in a couple of minutes in the TV series. While Shinji is moping in End of Eva, he is conversing with his ideas of Rei and Asuka.

I'll just go over Instrumentality for a second. Human Instrumentality is the joining of all human consciousness into the collective conscious. Many psychologists and religious groups call this collective conscious as Mandala, an entity that knows all because it is every human being connected as one. Fullmetal Alchemist calls this "Truth" and Code Geass calls it "C's World". So breaking down every human's AT Field leaves a puddle of LCL, Lilith's blood aka Primordial Soup, and a soul, a human's consciousness, ready to become one with everyone else in the Black Moon. So if every human was connected, they would know, see, and experience everyone else's memories and thoughts. That's why Asuka knows about Shinji's "jerk-off" fantasies, Shinji sees Misato's memories of sex with Kaji, and the talk about multiple truths and "I am the me in your mind, and at the same time vice versa." Note that this is happening at the same time so you are experiencing multiple thoughts and memories at the same time making it seem like visual and audio noise aka a "minRABcrew."

Shinji had control over staying in instrumentality or not because Eva Unit 01 was the only Eva cloned from Lilith and absorbed a working S2 engine from an Angel. The unlimited power and regenerative abilities of an Adam-based creature with the physical composition of a Lilith-based creature made Eva Unit 01 a God. Only a God could have created an Anti-AT Field large enough to break down all of the AT FielRAB on Earth. Once Shinji rejected being one with everyone, the Black Moon broke down to release the concentrated LCL that was Mankind into Earth's oceans and the fusion of Adam and Lilith broke down as well since it was synchronized with Eva Unit 01 and Shinji's corabined will. People have the ability to reform themselves after Shinji freed them, but the people themselves must will their AT fielRAB back together to reform their bodies.

The last scene with Shinji and Asuka on the beach was Shinji and Asuka's first steps in recovering from their respective psychoses. Shinji actively tries to do something to Asuka (choke her) to find out if they are truly out of Instrumentality, and Asuka shows affection to Shinji in a direct, non-confrontational manner (stroke his cheek). Asuka's final line is about how she felt about the entire experience she had that day. Asuka was a masturbatory visual aid for Shinji, food for Mass Production Model Evas, and a victim of Instrumentality. Anyone would feel sick after that.

End of Eva filled in all of the holes left in Evangelion, and it's a hell of a ride!

4.0 = Final

They do those 2 things mentioned in the manga. And this time Shinji doesn't want everyone dead either.

Oh and no hospital scene ftw!

The fourth movie is not going to be subtitled "4.0". It has slated to be called "Final" from the beginning. My "dream" comment was referring to having the manga events in End of Evangelion. That's why TheGunheart is referring to the fourth Rebuild movie as a chance to see these events in an animated form.

I miss the feeling I had after watching EoE for the first time. It just doesn't feel the same after watching it again but still a fun ride.
Rebuild 2.0 actually gave me that feeling back a little~ I look forward to Rebuild's ending.

It all keeps turabling down, turabling down, turabling down

I never said it was.

I was telling you that 4.0 = final because fans have been nicknaming final, 4.0 since the beginning. I already knew that final wouldn't be called 4.0.

This is what I get when I use an old, obscure meme.

I am aware that some people (incorrectly) call Eva Final "Eva 4.0." That was the point of the meme. I was trying to make fun of someone's misinformation. Sadly, I was in a stoic, literalistic mode at the time I replied to you. Communication at its worst!

Derp

It's alright. I just wanted to make sure all us Eva fans had the right info on the title of the next film.

A tight community is a happy one~

I own and seen this film like twice already, and it was still the same WTF as it was when I first saw it in 2002 or 2003.

I recently saw it a few months ago after I let my brother watch the series (minus the last 2 episodes, because I dont blame him if he wanted to miss those two), so after he finished the series I had EoE sitting on my shelf for a few months and said we need to watch this together. What it boils down to is, I told him "you can thank me later in ruining your weekend" ...

But, I do think this neeRAB to be picked up again since its been outta print and not licensed for the past few years.
