The "emo" label

Is it just me, or is this label starting to become very anoying. This whole "emo" thing has gotten a little out of control. First, the label, wich i beilive means emotional. That doesnt sound like much of a put down to me. Then all of a sudden, there becomes emo music, people dressing "emo" and people using the word emo as a insult? It just doesnt make any sense to me anymore. Now this label is being passed around so much, people calling others emo just because of long hair and a black t-shirt, or because they are upset dealing with their problems. Depression existed long before this emo label came along. Then you get emo posers, wich is the most confusing thing of all. If this word is now becoming a insult why would you want to become of poser of it? I really think it would be awsome just to never hear this word emo again.

argh, i could go on about this subject for aloong time. im fed up of people slagging off "emos" just because thats the fad at the moment. to be fair, the people that actually go out of their way to be emo look gay and are annoying and think they are an elite race. but christ, let them do whatever they want!!

I agree with -=dragon=-, the word emo is being used too much. So if someone would just take all the 'emo' ppl and round em up in a deer pen just to run em over with idk... a lawnmower. I guess it would be greatly appreciated. But what do I know...

However, I agree. A buddy of mine is extremely emo. He is quite possibly the most fucked up individual I know. Moreso than goths are. He sits in the corner all day, listening to songs about some dude and his girlfriend, and wishes he had that same thing. Whatever dude, grow up and have some fun. Smile, and look at the good things instead of being pessimistic all the time.
 
Being a pessimist isn't too bad, you never get dissappointed. But I like the way they do things in my school about 'emo' ppl, the band chicks beat em up. It's f*cking hilarious. So naturally there are very few ppl that are emo in the town I live but there are alot of preps.

someone shows the least bit of emotion, they're emo!
and people try so hard to be emo. why would you want to be! be yourself!

The emo thing is just something some asshole came up with one day when they got tired of being told to mellow out and have fun. This asshole decided everyone telling him to mellow out was to emotional thus the word emo was born.

Anyway that is what I think.
 
i think that an emo should be on this section im classed as an emo becuse i never got over my last girlfriend and have been on a downward spiral eversince i drink way to much and have ended up arested way to muchilike music that makes me depressed cause then beer will cheer me up faster being labeled an emo is nothing but saying 'look there depressed and they like rock music so they must be Suicidal ' fuck no what planet you on dude. ok yeah i often think about killing myself but seriosly this is stupid twats {in england they are called chav's chav = wanker } who want the whole world to bow down and conform to them fuck no im proud to be different
 
Emo is a fashion statement and nothing more. People started using it to describe the way people act because they were too lazy to get to know people. It is not synonymous with depressed. Yeah, I'm depressed, I don't like the music to match it though, nor do I cut myself(not that either of those things are necessarily the root of all evil). I'm just me and if you try to call me emo, I'll just call you lazy.
