The Effect of Media on Young Women?

I'm writing an essay for an assignment and I really would like different perceptions of the effects of media on young women.. thanks!

It's very detrimental to society:

-It convinces women to be weight-conscious and bone-skinny when men aren't the least bit attracted to that
-It seems to permanently damage women's self-esteems. They sleep around too damn much.
-It causes shallowness because celebrities are often idolized just because of their status and power
-It causes women to buy useless, yet overpriced products
-Some women literally think that the higher priced a product is, the higher value it holds (certain brand names)

There's more, but these are the most relevant effects I've come across.

God do all women's studies and sociology classes act like only women are affected by media/pop culture and negative stereotypes??

It's just sad at this stage.

A bad one: They get the message it's ok and funny to be a misandrist.
A good one: They are taught they shouldn't be afraid or ashamed of the lesbian tendencies/preferences women have. Straight women don't exist and it's good women are preapared to welcome facts like this one.

I think you'll want those ridiculously specific cherry picked patriarchy effects.

-Women are overly conscious of their looks.
-Are tricked in to believing they are no good at maths (that one might only be at schoo, not media)
-Are tricked in to believing they should be subservient to men.
-Are tricked in to being told not to be sexually expressive, or else they are a slut
-Are tricked in to being told they should be sexually expressive, as if they are some sort of sex object.
-etc

materialism
