The Edward/Jakob debate?

I'm a guy, I read the Twilight saga at the request of my gorgeous girlfriend. Imagine my surprise when I couldn't put the books down. But I have an issue with the films. Or 2 issues to be precise.

1. Robert Pattison (spelling?) In the book Edward is portrayed as the most beautiful vampire, most beautiful thing Bella has ever seen.
and
2. Taylor Lautner. Jakob is supposed to be huge, Supposed to be someone who looks like he can pick a motorbike up on his own.

So why does Pattison look like a crack head, and why has Lautner got bigger boobs than Pamela Anderson and Jordan put together?

Surely they have miss-cast those roles? I have to admit, in my head while I was reading, I pictured someone like Leonardo DiCaprio as Edward (due to him being called "beautiful" seeing as DiCrapio looks like a choir boy. and someone like Hugh Jackman as Jakob, as hugh jackman plays both Van Helsing and Wolverine really well, and is literally "huge".

What does everyone really think about their choice of actors?
And Bella? she isn't going to make a very good looking vampire is she?
 
i can see what you mean, i recently watched eclipse. Anyway, I think actors like DiCaprio and Jackman, would most definitely fit those roles. Maybe you're thinking Hughes, wolverine role? lol and Leonardo's role as jack in titanic? I can see that.. BUT both of them are, old? And the characters in the book are young teenagers, which makes the current actors more legit. And not to meantion, I don't find Edwards actor to be handsome as well, I don't see it?! I mean, he could be faintly charming i guess, that's all. And for Taylor Lautner, he actually is skinny but he did a really impressive job bulking himself up for that role, almost a bit too much, lol. But that's what was called for i guess. And Kristen stewart. Not thee most gorgeous girl, but i stll find her pretty and in a way a successful actress. In my opinion! lol
