I really like this movie and I'm a big fan of the television show. I thought Johnny Knoxville, Jessica Simpson, Sean William Scott, and Willie Nelson did great job as The Dukes. Even though I think parts of Rosco and Bos Hogg could have been played by other actors, I still enjoy the movie and never get tired of watching it. Great memorable quotes are in it as well.

I have some pictures :)

I haven't seen this movie, but I found these icons and thought some of you may like them.

I posted a subjective opinion, yes. But not my subjective opinion.

I didn't judge either movie because I haven't seen them. But it IS sad that this movie can make more money than a movie starring Scarlett Johansson and Ewan McGregor. I said nothing about each movie's merits because well, I couldn't possibly know about them.

...

BTW, I heard some criticism of Jessica's accent which I found SO hilarious since she's from the South! Maybe she tried too hard to sound like the over the top movie Southerners sound.

And I heard she's only in the movie for a short period of time if you add up all her scenes. Guess even stripping is too difficult for her.

I try to like her because sometimes she's truly adorable but like any aspiring A lister, it's all an act because sooner or later they all end up shedding their clothes for the camera. It's the only way to sell records and movies. She has the same voice she had before, only now she has the body to go with it. And well, you can't miss her now.

Same with Christina Aguilera, she was just "Britney's rival" until she "stripped". Oh boy, the more things change.... The more they stay the same.

Now you're getting into subjective opinions.

People call Michael Bay movies, "mindless popcorn flicks". The same could be said of Dukes of Hazzard. Who is right? Who is wrong (if anyone)?

One of the things Dukes of Hazzard has going for it is the fans of the original series as well as fans of Jessica Simpson, Sean William Scott and Johnny Knoxville. The whole point was to make a movie for a specific audience (a younger generation who idolizes these stars) compared to The Island that caters to a more mainstream action, sci-fi... and possibly older... Audience in general.

The fact Dukes is also a comedy is what helps it out a lot as well. People like to laugh more than be scared, or thrilled -- Why do you think Romantic Comedies are the number one genre of all time in terms of financial success?

Also, it was smart for Warner Brothers to schedule the movie at the end of the summer when it has no competition. It will be interesting to see how well it does when Red Eye, Flight Plan and Skeleton Key premiere at the end of this and next week because these films could potentially take some of Dukes thunder in regards to the part of the audience that likes both comedy AND to be scared/thrilled.

i'm going to see it just so I can snark on it? No way I'm going to pay 8 dollars for it though. I'm going to wait when they have t on Tuesday discount and pay four dollars for it.

In the preview, Jessica have the worst Southern accent I have ever heard, and that's really bad considering she's from the South.

I read this article of her in a magaizine, I think it was Seventeen, and the writer asked her what's her favorite Southern song and she said "My Boots were made for Walking." And the writer pointed out that the song were sung by someone who was born in New Jersey and wrote by someone who was born in Oklahoma.

I didn't even think she did much acting. She would say a random line here and there (usually sounded out of place), but most of the time she just strutted around showing off her hot body and big boobs. You could have replaced here with any hot chick and they would have done just as fine.

And I agree with you Rockstar, I hate it when really good movies do poor and these cheeseball "comedies" make it big. Oh well.

Actually, from what I heard/read nobody really said it would "bomb", just that it sucked.

I haven't seen it and never will. It made $30+ million on the first week which is probably more than The Island has made in a month............... Sad stuff.

I actually really liked it and I was expecting to not like it. I'm not going to say "OMG it was the best movie ever, everyone should go see it!!" but it was fun. And campy and overplayed and had WAY too many shots of Jessica Simpson's breasts. But it was in the spirit of the series while still bringing in the modern elements.

Certainly not the best movie of the year but it was worth my 8 bucks. I definetly say go see before you really form an opinion on it.

Right... well it looks pretty funny to me, anyway I dont go on what critics say... most of them seem to write a whole review when they havent even seen the movie. Anyway I dont think its the sort of movie thats meant to be taken seriously (to realise that all you have to do is look at the cast list - quite a few of them have comedy backgrounds).

So apparently it did well in the box office. And people thought it was going to bomb.

I agree I seen he movie last night and it was barely at all like the original and that flaunting thing got old quick. Its like in the series Daisy Duke didn't go around flaunting it all over and personally I think they should have set the movie back in the 80's around where the series ended not in 2005 do you really think eveyone would still be that way if its been 20 years!! Overall the movie was ok funny at times but not completly bad. If your expecting anything like the original this is not your movie.

Most critics have panned this movie.

While one has to realize this is in no way Shakespeare... Even the critics are saying it is not even a good version of the old TV series because it is trying way too hard to be hip and not charming like the original series was.

Some publications have likened Jessica Simpson's acting ability to that of Brittney Spears and Mariah Carey :lmao: That's pretty bad...

Nothing great about this movie, honestly, didn't find it very funny at all, San Francisco Chronicle said it best with: "...the worst film so far of the 21st century..."

i am dying to see the movie! i might be seeing it monday or tuesday with my friends. i am a huge seann and johnny fan. i like jessica. the movie looks like a cool, fun, funny action-adventure film.

I went to see the movie yesterday and i loved it, though i have to agree with BehindHazelEyes Jess's flaunting was way to, how to put it, Ew. She was doing it through the whole movie and it was really getting old, but other than that it was such a funny movie i loved the dorm scene, so fricken funny  i wont say anymore so i dont spoil it..:D
