I am going to get this on DVD (it's going way cheap in tesco!). As I love Keria Knightley and think, even though a little over-rated, still a fabulous actress. It's meant to be a love story (am i right)? With a sad ending!
Quite a sad tale throughout, not just at the end. A love story is in there, but it's also about the expectations of a society woman during that period and how restricted she can become due to those same expectations.
I'd certainly recommend you'd get the film, it's well acted and very well done, but it's not a feel good film... unless you like feeling low when you're feeling down. Mind you, you imply that you already know that.
Its very much a film about the role of women in the upper classes back in the time of Georgiana. It's a sad film but I wouldn't class the ending as entirely sad exactly. It's a little more compliated than that.
One thing does annoy me though, the historical accuracy is not particlarly good. The person who wrote the story paints Georgiana as a particularly sypmathetic character when she was really nothing of the sort. And the Duke is painted as truly brutally cruel when there is no evidence that he was.
I see what you mean. It's like that with a lot of films though isn't it? I think because this story goes back a long time it's hard to get it right. I guess you have to be open minded
Haha yeah I get what you mean. I watched 'the tudors' (TV drama) and although there are tons of inaccuracies I try to forget it was real and treat it like a soap opera or something
I will still get this on DVD at some point though as it looks really interesting and think Keira Knightley is a good actress
Sigh, the Tudors, can't wait for series 4! Just hope that Henry and Brandon don't get shy now that they're a bit older, I only really watch it for naked male flesh!
Haha, well the inaccuracies don't both me too much (unless you are watching from a true educational purpose).
I just typed Georgina into google and I didn't realise she was that old (i mean...painted pictures of her for example...henry the eighth style). Should be a good watch when i get it
