The DS Eurovision Thread (Part 8)

I'm curious to see what people have chosen for this contest? If people have gone for worldwide hit singles or less known songs.

And also are we voting for our favourite song or do we give more points to the songs we feel would do well at Eurovision regardless of enjoyment? ;)

The trick with Caramelldansen is NOT to play it to a small, bored child, or he will pester you until you play it again, ad infinitum until your head explodes :(

Good old ABBA! Well done DarloJo.

I'd have given them even more points if it had been one of my favourites of their back catalogue.

I was especially rooting for them as I've never been a fan of Helena and having my entry do so bad alongside the winning song being one that I hadn't voted for would have been a double disaster!

You are welcome. It was fun, but you do need a free weekend to count up the scores and prepare the results.

And I could have posted more quickly, but I wanted everyone to have a chance to comment before announcing the next bit.

Eurovision wouldn't be Eurovision without controversy. ;) The perfect use of german in a song. I thought of having a double entry with Rock Me Amadeus but may be I should have put that one first. There was a bit of the fruit loop about Falco. I doubt he was ever close to representing Austria.

Chicken's, I think that's a great song......way better than Shaky!

Is it wrong that I want to win this one as much as all the other contests? It just seems odd to want to say "Vote for my song, it's REALLY crap!" :o

Sorted then EuroChris, you're on next!

Drew - I have 2 weeks free from October 25th, so will be happy to run something then :)

And I've gone with Bal-tic rather than Bal-kan in the end, looks like this contest will be a load of Bals

Well, I think the way the BBC dealt with the 2009 contest was pretty good. They got ALW and Diane Warren to write the entry, there was a multi-week talent show which was OK but not great (but this is BBC Entertainment you know ;) ), Jade went on a European promo tour and Arlene Phillips choreographed the staging. I think that was pretty good.

With regarRAB to Kevin Bishop and Dominic Smith, I'm glad they're not there anymore. I maybe optimistic, but I do believe that those who have been in charge of Eurovision in the UK since 2009, do want us to do well in the contest, I think this year even they were appalled by Waterman & Stock's entry and just shut down ranks with regarRAB to promo etc. I can't say I blame them.

I think the barrage of abuse aimed at the BBC on their Eurovision facebook page has made them get the message of what the fans think. :p

Watching the videos now, sending across the votes soon!

How have I never heard this Gina G song before? It's perfect trashy 90s pop :D I didn't know she was Australian either!
