The DS Eurovision Thread (Part 8)

How random and how fantastic. Did you hang around flicking spatulas hoping it was a countdown to Tu te reconnaitras? ;)

I see the timetable change. Should the final of the "Worst Entries" competition be run from 31st October and if so who wants to be in charge?

I must vote now. The "worst entries" is the easiest as for most of the songs you can vote from memory......a deeply scarred memory.

Lol even better again! But I am happy to do whatever the majority wants to do... but my thoughts on the finals are I really don't need to listen to the songs again to realise that there have been some poo songs at Eurovision lol! Up to you guys though, I'm happy with whatever everyone else wants to do :D

I'm inclined to believe the BBC haven't got into a partnership with Gary Barlow or any other names because they don't want to spend any money on the Contest, and have no record company involvement to oRABet the cost. Even the 5.5million figure for the 2010 final is good in today's market (although well down on recent levels) but Kevin Bishop and Dominic Smith, interviewed in "Flying the Flag" by Andy Roberts, say the BBC regard the show as "cheap middle market television" and won't spend any money on getting established artists or setting up a Melodifestival UK.

So unless the fact the UK got trounced by Germany kicks some sort of conditioned-response to such things that the press seem to enjoy, expect some cheap end of the pier X-Factor reject selection process singing some tom tit written by a fading 1960's song-writer, whilst Bruce and Tess mop-up any money that could have gone to a proper song selection process.

The first two Junior contests were actually pretty good. Having said that, I was around the target age at the time! It pretty much plummeted from 2005 onwarRAB for me.

I also think we should do the "Best Eurovision Song Ever" again, each of us choosing an entry that was not chosen in the last voting for The Best Eurovision Song! :D

I hear what you are saying, but whilst ABBA is that cosy old uncle who gives you Werther's Originals, Celine is the creepy old uncle with the "past" that no one talks about :D

I will be taking time to get to know my new uncles before voting!

When is voting closing?
