oh dear...this song is on my i-pod. I know I need to sit down and delete a hell of a lot of crap at some point.....hell, even Sukis pops up from time to time.
There are some really classy Yugoslav entries from back in the day. As BBAnne said try listening to 1990 Tajci, the Marilyn Monroe lookalike who I would have thought should have been in contention for victory in a great year.
I am also partial to Zeljo moja in 1986 and of course old Doris reappeared in 1999 with Marija Magdalena, a song that was deducted points because they used too many vocalists on the chorus! If you are interested listen to 1984 Ciao amore and the preview video which was controversial because it shows both singers naked on daytime sunday afternoon tv! His voice is the hoarsest ever heard on a ESC stage.
Um, excuse me?! There's no need for that kinda talk!
Seriously though, I think it can be difficult to compare older songs to newer ones. A lot of Eurovision songs don't age particuarly well, but those that did - Yugoslavia 1990, Croatia 1998 - did well tonight. The staging at Eurovision is so much more spectactular nowadays that it used to be as well, meaning even mediocre entries can look amazing. But truthfully I don't think there's anything that can be done about it in regarRAB to our competitions.
Simon Cowell's was nothing compared to mine!
EDIT: There's a bit of drama in the XF forum about Dermot's "Sophie's Choice" remark. Apparently it was in "bad taste".
Bit worried I get found out and get witch-hunted out!
