The DS Eurovision Thread (Part 8)

Just under 2 hours left until the submissions deadline at 6pm. There are 12 confirmed entries so far. I must say, I thought the line-up was going to be full of similar sounding entries, but there's a range of music styles, including some songs that I've never even heard before. :)

It's a shame that Alyosha was never universally liked. I still really love her album even if quite a large proportion of it is depressing! She's got quite an incredible voice.

Oh and I must admit that I do secretly like Donna and Joe even if I do bash them at every possible opportunity! :o

Welcome back RogerMilla - and thank you for not ex-communicating me for my heinous crime :D

I am yet to hear any of this years entries in real life, and I can only imagine the buzz from it! Best I can do is post on here excitedly when Ken Bruce plays something!

11th?!?! Pffft :p

If only someone hadn't stolen my first choice and I'd have done a bit better lol

Song sent for this weeks comp, dunno how it will be received, I hope I can scrape top ten!

Italian X Factor certainly makes the UK look brilliant in comparison!

I loved Ovi and Paula - my number 2 song from this year.

I just had visions of Gareth Gates and his spiky head :(

Nope, Qele Qele would still take the second spot, but the competition was more about who was the rightful owner of the region of Nagorno-Karabakh - and Aysel & Arash proved that Azerbaijan are well within their rights to kick out the Armenians on this occasion

Unfortunately, I haven't got round to telling them yet :o

I'm inclined to agree we don't need to re-run the Dung Contest again - perhaps we could have a one off voting session for the ultimate worst, perhaps to liven things up over a few hours rather than a few days? It could almost be live voting and be slightly more exciting. That way we just need the list of the 20 or so which made it through...just a thought.

I think though rather than continuing with the Fantasy Eurovision we ought to have a short break and perhaps look to another ESC based contest before carrying on with the fantasy theme. Could I suggest a Best German entry contest (seeing as they are hosts this year) and a Best Italian entry (including San Marino seeing as they are effectively Italy's conservatory extension) in the hope they might be making a return sometime soon? I think the best of contests are good as they broaden some newer fan's knowledge of the ESC back catalogue and can be great nostalgia!

I know what you mean, it's been bugging me too!

And Croatia 2003, just blatent, they might as well have said "oh baby, baby" at the beginning *tuts*

I'm taking a Balkan break at the moment, I've been listening all afternoon and Jedan Dan is running round my head like a virus :(

I have my Top 10, just need to order them
