The DS Eurovision Thread (Part 8)

I have now voted!

Also, as I had absolutely nothing to do today, I had a look back at some of the previous forum contests that I missed to see how I would have voted.

From each semi I would have chosen the following:

2004
Jari Sillanp

OK, I found the ten songs I'm voting for.. Only need to decide the order. Have done it already, but need to listen to the ten again, just to make sure..

I expected that one to appear too but thought someone else would pick it before I did.

There really are an embarassment of "riches" when it comes to worst songs in Eurovision.

No sign of Alf Poier either, or Donna and Joe.

Some great songs in there guys! Now the reveal has happened I can see a few of the songs I was umming and ahing over had been chosen anyway! Still... happy with my first choice the Lorak! In case anybody is interested... and in the spirit of new music.... here are some of the ones I was contemplating and are not on the list;

Gina G - Heaven

Scooch - For Sure

Malena Ernman - Tragedy

Kate Ryan - Elle Ella La

Kate Ryan and Soraya - Tonight We Ride

If nothing else I strongly reccommend the two Kate Ryan songs and Gina G! Now to start on the competition :D

Our first 'douze pointe' coming up next...

I just love that duet and it would have been my choice but for someone with faster typing skills! I agree it's a bit bizarre as a duet and Maria parading her puppies for the world to see is a WTF moment considering how "mumsy" she tenRAB to look.

Agree about Androla.....thought it would definitely be chosen by someone, although definitely not by me....that woman ruins the song for me.

That was a weird one for me Chickens, I was expecting to love it, and I listened, and listened again - it just didn't happen for me, sorry mate

iirc in 2007 - I didn't "get" Verka til about 2 days before the semi final :D

No
I think it's outdated. Like you already pointed out it would take quite a while for the orchestra to get ready inbetween the acts and as songs in ESC have such diversity now, some songs wouldn't even need nor want an orchestra. The last time the orchestra was used was in 1998 when there were about 20-odd countries even that was enough but given that the amount of participating countries has since doubled throughout the years, I don't think the orchestra would end up making it through the night!

Just got the fright of me life when watching Hungary 1995, you can hear Csaba Szigeti in the background, all very pleasant, then the camera goes in for a close up, sweet baby jesus, that's a face only a mother could love
