The Disappearance of Alice Creed

Hi All,

CinemaNX's new film 'The Disappearance of Alice Creed' is released on 30th April.

It's a slick, gritty thriller that stars Gemma Arterton, Eddie Marsan and Martin Compston, and it's been compared to Shallow Grave by critics...

It's also received some great reviews, and admittedly I'm a bit bias as I'm working on promoting the film, but I can't invent good reviews!!

I've been looking forward to seeing this film for so long!
Of the little clips I've seen, it looks like a great film. It seems to be a fantastic role for Gemma Arterton!

I saw the trailer for this film yesterday and can't even remember a single scene or clip in the trailer. I just remember the title, which is a bit of a worry. If it made that little impression on me will it do the same with other people.

Some independent reviews, the first from digitalspy:

I am not blown away by the trailer. It is obviously small cast/low budget so heavily dependent on the players and the cleverness of the plot in ratcheting up the tension from the start point of a standard 'kidnapping gets complicated' plot.

Isn't that a good thing?

It's getting good reviews from the likes of Kermode, and the Guardian and Time Out both give it four stars. SounRAB like it's worth watching, even if you don't normally like that kind of film.

Saw this last night. Top film! Highly recommended.

No dialogue in the first 10mins. Only 3 actors. Kidnapping is fierce. Film is tense from the get-go. Great acting from everyone involved, esp. Gemma Arterton. A star in the making, in a couple of years time i think she will be absolutely huge! I heart her!

It is a good thing; with more thought-provoking substance than flashy CGI. The problem is pulling it off (that most say it does with reservations) and, for me, the starting point appears too generic.

I am not saying I would not watch it. It would not get high on my list from the impression the trailer gave me - DVD not cinema viewing.

Gets a good write up in the FT, who I've always found pretty astute in their reviews.

Still, it does look like a DVD rather than a cinema trip.

Enjoyable film I thought. Gemma Arterton is fascinating to watch. Very naturally beautiful. She should go far.

Nice to watch a film that didn't rely on action to maintain interest. And me and my mate both agreed that the highlight was the quality of the acting. I wouldn't say it's a perfect film but worth a watch.

Brilliant film, went out of the way to Bluewater to see it as nowhere else was showing it.

Eddie Marson is truely scary, Gemma Arterton is truely brave for subjecting herself to that role and I found it lived up to the good reviews I'd read of it.

Go see this film.

Excellent movie

just back from watching this now. I really enjoyed it

i loved how it only has 3 people in the entire movie - not even extra waking past in B&Q at the beginning - or even a faint voice on the other side when she was on the phone. just 3 people and nothing else.

well acted and well produced.

Brilliant.

....that it comes to a Cineworld near me. Rather use my unlimited card than give money to Vue or Odeon.

Then again A Single Man never came. It's always frustrating when films are promoted quite well in the press/tv interviews then only show up in about 50 screens nationwide.

Edit. If you go on the films website you can see where the film is playing... Where to watch?

Very useful.

I saw this film today and thought it was very good and fine performances from the three actors involved!

However l found the title of the film a bit odd as:

nobody was actually looking for Alice Creed in the film therefore how could she 'disappeared'?

I think 'The Abduction of Alice Creed' would have been more apt!
