The Descent

Think 1st

utterly tremendous film, best horror film i've seen in ages. seems like it isn't going to be released in america though, due to the fact that a similar, but infinitely worse film, called the cave was released before it.

nevermind eh, they'll never experience that scene in the cavern with the video camera!

In fairness though it's been a really bad year especially for horror movies

Descent is an intelligent above average horror and is considerably better if not as well polished than the similarly themed The Cave

i havent seen it yet but i think it is directed by same guy who did dog soldiers.
i loved that film so i am hopefull that descent will entertain me as much.
i do know it has been a very popular rental film and i have not heard much negative feed back about it.

i thought it was great, clever and as i expected from the director of dog soldiers.
hope he manages to do more films and soon!
think he has a knack for just being slightly different, loved the ending too.

It's great, a lot more serious and mature than Dog Soldiers (though I enjoyed that as well). The audience gets really jumpy when you see it at the cinema which is part of the fun. It should work well on DVD too.

Or lack of ending. A lot of horror movies do not end properly which can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on the scenario.

I thought the ending was really good, i dont think it could have worked any other way...

If everything ended all hunky dory, it just wouldn't have seemed consistent with the film imo

Although, i'd be interested to read suggestions from others as to how it should have ended..

The beginning of the movie has got like a awesome death scene but i got bored after 5mins and i taken the dvd back to blockbuster. Its one of those thriller movies where they just talk & talk and you are waiting for something to happen but nothing exciting happens in a long time.

I hate those movies.

I liked the ending too - it was a great 70s-style way to round it off.
In the deleted scenes one character basically says they were screwed as soon as they entered the cave, there was no way out, prior to her buying the farm. It's in-keeping with the rest of the movie and it sticks with you like all scary films should.
