The Departed (2006, Martin Scorsese - Spoilers)

I'd like to see a prequel but like someone already said, I don't see how they could make a good sequel since pretty much every important character died... if they get new ones, it just won't be the same for me!

I totally agree, it was an awesome movie. And I was so shocked when Leo died, I thought he would survive.

Hmm, you know I have never thought about that. I assumed he knew Matt was the rat but how would have he found out? I don't know, any thoughts? :shrug:
 
I so hope The Departed wins Best Picture this weekend (and not only 'cause I picked it in the office pool haha) because I think out of those nominated it is totally the best film of the year, and Scorcese deserves the win at last. My fingers are crossed!

Nice little reunion for Mark and Leo (They were both in Basketball Diaries)

I'd love to see a prequel and a sequel, honestly. I loved these characters! (And as always love Scorcese.) I will definitely be buying the DVD the day it comes out!
 
Not only was the actual date scene well written--but the scene with them in the elevator was funny as well. With the business card and him not needing it because he's a detective....had me laughing.
 
I really want to see this film - we were discussing it at lunch today.

Thing that interests me is that Martin Sheen isn't even mentioned in the promos - he's there in many of the shots, and we even hear parts of his dialogue, but he's not listed in the punchy, "Starring, XYZ..."

My colleagues argued it's becuase he's a 'television actor,' to which I took great offense. Hello? Apocalypse Now? Badlands? Puhleeze.

Not that I don't like the other actors - talk about a phenomenal ensemble cast, but why not list him, too, just because he's done television for the last 7 years?
 
Oh totally! My family was here and we all watched it together, I was in a jawdrop, covering my mouth and my mom was shouting "WHAT?!" It was sad. :(

I'll definitely buy the special edition, because I love all that extra footage and commentaries.
 
Saw this movie over the weekend..

AMAZING.

I loved it. Esp. loved Billy/Mad. I didn't think Colin would die. I've heard there are talks of a sequel, but I have mixed feelings on that.
