WOW!

:thud:

Bought and watched this movie today. It was super amazing. One of the best movies I have seen in a long time. Not to mention the three hotties, and the other great actors that starred in it. Wonderful acting, great directing, awesome stunts, and terrific writing! It was just great. Totally deserved the Best Picture award.

The end was so sad. We were half way through, when things were really getting heated and they were looking for the rats, and I was like "Omg, they are all going to die."

I really didn't want Leo's charrie to die though.. I loved him. And true, he should have won for that. SUPERB ACTING!

So, now that Marty's got his Best Picture and Director nod, I'm thinking there will be a re-release of the DVD at some point in the future with even more special features like commentary. I'm bummed more that the Academy snubbed Damon without the nomination than Wahlberg or DiCaprio not winning.

But still, hooray for Marty and this film.

I loved this movie, saw it twice in the theaters. Someone mentioned that maybe Jack Nicholson and Matt Damon's characters were gay ? Maybe that father son relationship was a bit more ?

Same here.

Those lines you mentioned are some of my favorites in the whole movie!

I also love when she says "You're trouble" and he replies, "Oh, you don't know the half of it!" His delivery was pitch perfect. Matt Damon is a great actor.

What's everyones opinion on Vera?

I think she was decent, but she seems too old when you put her up next to Leo and Matt.

She did have great chemistry with Leo though---their kiss was fantastic.

Yeah, I've already preordered my two-disc special edition of the DVD. :D

As for the prequel/sequel, apparently Mark Wahlberg and Robert DeNiro have been approached for it or something. Meh.

Fanforum just ate my post :(

I was wondering if anyone who's seen it here is from MA or Boston. I'm originally from MA and I thought the movie did a good job of capturing the Boston "swagger." Its distinctly different than another big city like NY. I loved hearing Matt's thick Boston accent again. And of course Mark Wahlberg as well coming back to his roots.

It's hard to pick the best actor in this. I expected everyone to be good, and Leo/Jack to be better than good... but Matt Damon surprised me the most because of the levels of duplicity he pulled off. I don't remember another movie where he's played a bad guy, and he completely commited to the role. He's always been really good, but I think he just took it to another level. Same with Mark Wahlberg, I didn't expect him to steal the movie early on like he did. He took a smallish role and made it memorable.

I see multiple Oscar noms in the supporting actor category. They're all deserved. I hope Leo finally (way past due) earns his first award too. My only complaint is that his character was so isolated the writers didn't delve as deep as I think they could with his character.

I hope it does get Oscar nods :D and love the Leo/Martin scenes, especially in the house

I love The Departed! It was great. The ending blew me away! The entire cast was fantastic. I'm sad that Leo didn't win but I'm very happy about Best Picture and Director. They were definitely deserved!

 Same here. ;)

I loved how he was like "If that thing moves I'm gonna shoot it." And the "I'll arrest you right here." :sigh: I have a tiny, miscroscopic soft spot for Colin. ;)

I saw the movie as well and LOVED it. I think the acting was very good and I've always been a fan of Leonardo but he still surprised me... he's so good!
Jack Nicholson was great too, of course. For some reason everytime I see him, no matter what movie he's in, he looks like a psycho to me (can't get Shining out of my head I guess).
I felt so bad when Queenan (Martin Sheen) died! And then when Billy Costigan died too... I was shocked, lol. I totally didn't expect it to happen.

But I didn't even notice Mark Wahlberg in the movie! I must be retarded or something...

I love this movie. It's the 2006 film for me and I watched it for the 3rd time last night to cap the entire movie. Amazing performances from all actors. And I love the scenes between Leo and Martin Sheen. :thud:

This film is Oscar bound. EW's Oscar Best Picture Predictions

i saw it and loved it. i thought it was GREAT. definitely best movie i've seen besides click. and i thought leonardo dicaprio's acting was genius. everyone else did ffascniating in making everything coming alive so well. i loved it all:cool:

This is my favourite movie of 2006. I disliked Martin Scorsese's last 2 movies, but this one was impressive. It could win the Oscars.
