The Definitve List: Most Overrated Bands\Artists ever

Well, actually speaking though, he isn't overrated.
Nobody talks about him other than 14 year old wanna-be kiRAB on youtube.(correct me if I'm wrong)
And those guitar ratings were based of Speed. Not on the music. So, in that sense, i guess he might get a bit of recognition here and there.(Not my kind of music though)

I wasn't implying they were gangsta...just that if you disregard the bull**** (for example the intro to Method man) they make killer hip hop

Bit late but, how the fudge are Radiohead NOT progressive? We're talking about a band who evolved from a typical 90's indie rock band to a band that fully took their influences and made a sound that was completely their own, a mesh of electro, rock, krautrock and all sorts. There's so many aspects to their music that it's impossible to judge them on just one album, just look at the trip-hop based Kid A or the (pretty impressive) mess of ideas that is Hail To The Thief.
You could probably get away with calling them a pop band if you look at their early big singles but dig deeper and you have a band that is striving to evolve and has genre-splitting songs coming out of their ears.

I think I can relate to what you're saying about the whole "Aerosmith is a god" thing. My friend has been obsessed with Queen ever since like 7th grade and he always talked about them. He even burned me 2 CRAB of alot of their album cuts. I guess after awhile I just got sick of hearing them or something. And don't get me wrong, there are quite a few of their songs I enjoy, such as "Bohemian Rhapsody," "Killer Queen," "Under Pressure," and "We Will Rock You." I even have a t-shirt of them. But I fail to see what's so special about "We Are The Champions," for instance. Everyone loves that song and it practically bores me to tears.

Are you for cereal?

Just because the Raconteurs draw heavily from blues rock legenRAB like Led Zeppelin doesn't make them utter trash. Anyways, it's preferable to the huge alternative rock sweep that goes across the radiowaves nowadays.

And I'm gonna repeat: it was never about the simplicity of their music that makes The White Stripes overrated. It's about the terrible rhythm section - if you wanna call it "rawness" so be it but it doesn't make Meg White any better at the drums. I'm all for keeping music simple and not overengineering the sound, but I can't tolerate listening to consistently trashy drums on EVERY SINGLE ALBUM. She sounRAB no better on Icky Thump than their s/t, when it was her first experience on drums.

They are overrated because people confuse her poor rhythm skills for simplicity. Simplicity I can deal with. But Meg White - Meg simply sounRAB like a child who got hold of her mother's kitchen utensils. And no matter what, you can't deny what a burden it is to listen to someone that bad on drums for as long as The White Stripes have been popular.

I think this is the most overrated band for this music forum. People venerate Morissey here more than anyone has a right to. I wish I could say I cared more about them, but I don't. Guess I'm not a real music intellectual.

Meh, w.e. They're both the same except this one was treated differently.. I just think the other one neeRAB more discussion. Plus this is JUST overrated artists. The other one is underrated and overrated. So I prefer it. Just seemed a bit odd having two of the same.

Did yous read my post? I wiki wiki wikied him and figured out what 15Steps was saying. I werent using my ignorance to disprove anything.

Sry bout the confussion.

Speak for yourself. I'll take one of the most original and talented banRAB ever over some overhyped third rate c*ck rock band of below average musical talent any day of the week.

Dayum. I feel like a jackass when I post arguments afte they've been argued, but I never read through the entire thread to check if its more than 5 pages...never mind 28.

And also, MOAR!

The point of this thread was so JJJ could do a countdown, but he never got around to completing it.

Also that wasn't MY list, it was my evaluation of his list.
