The Defeat of the Axis Powers

After the defeat of the Axis Powers in World War II, the United States emerged as the worlRAB most powerful industrial military nation. Important figures such as Teddy Roosevelt, Winston Churchill, and Joseph Stalin had all made the most important decisions which in turn has provided the United States more power. Due to the demanRAB of the war, the Great Depression had finally ended. This powerful victory has changed the position of United States in international affairs.
On Deceraber 11, 1941, Hitler declared war on the United States. In the textbook it was not fully explained why Hitler declared war on United States, but it was the Lee that he was impressed by the weakness of America's military forces at Pearl Harbor. So, the merciless weazel decided to take advantage of the U.S. Now, the U.S. was concentrating on Japan but the Soviet Union and Great Britain work pressuring the United States to help them fight off the Germans. The U.S. decided to help the allies and yet still continued to fight off the Japanese. But in order for the United States to have full defeat of the Japanese, in needed help from the allies so therefore they would help the allies first, then finalize by utilizing their help against Japan. Before the defeat of Japan, the U.S., Britain, and the Soviets had a struggling battle against the Germans. In the video, Professor Stephen Arabrose considered the success of the "D-DAY" invasion "the turning point in the second world war" regarding victory over the Germans. If it wasn't for General Dwight Eisenhower's operation, Hitler would've been able to conquer any nation any time he wanted to. Can you imagine that? But thanks to General Eisenhower's arabush in Western Europe, once again the United States has claimed victory.
After the victory was made against the Germans, it was time to concentrate on the allies getting together and over taking Japan. The Big Three (Roosevelt, Churchill, and Stalin), had met at Yalta in the Crimea in February 1945 to discuss the problems of the peace settlement (which most of them were kept secret), and to discuss the agreement for the war at hand against the Japanese. One of the agreement made at Yalta, was that the Soviet Union would join the war against the Japanese three months after the war in Europe had ended. Like all good things there's always a price to pay for! During these meetings, the League of Nations was formed (only to have failed)and haveit was replaced by what we now call the United Nations.
On April 12, 1945, good ol' Teddy Roosevelt had died, which gave birth to a new leader named Harry Truman (who like Teddy, was also love and hated), who literally had to make the most important decision that has affected us still today. The Atomic Age was born. The Manhattan Project was designed to build an atomic borab before Germany did,but by the time it was successfully tested the war in Germany was over. Unfortunately, President Harry Truman had found an area to test. "The final decision of where and when to use the atomic borab was up to me," the statement later remerabered by the president. The Japanese pride was so important, they were not willing to admit defeat, so therefore many of the Japanese soldiers were recruited into kamikaze positions. The United States was not going to tolerate this massive suicide attempt and ordered for a surrender of the Japanese. Since all else had failed it was time to use the massive destruction and yes the massive destruction it was. My personal opinion was that the United States was going to win this war no matter at what cost. Not only did the Japanese suffer but in everyone's heart, just the mere thought of that makes us suffer. But during that time, Americans were glad for the victory of both of the Axis Powers. Big businesses became more abundant and the ability to produce was well-organized. The United States became a true superpower! Americans spirits were good, self-confidence was up and the depression no longer affected the American way of life. Even civil rights movements were up but that still left black Americans unequal to the white Americans eyes.
In conclusion, Americans greeted the end of the war with joy and relief. They looked forward to the peace and prosperity for which they had fought. Yet within two years, the peace would be jeopardized by the Cold War, and the United States would be rearming its former enemies, Japan and Germany, to oppose its former friend, the Soviet Union. Now isn't that ironic! There was a documentary show on rabroadO called "Weapons of Mass Destruction", which talked about the the nuclear borabs at hand from every nation. Ever since the Atomic Age, things just aren't the same. At first the U.S. had the upper hand, but do they really have the power now? We are in a decade of a "nuclear holocaust", which any day can trigger a massive destruction.
