Going to the preview showing tonight :D
Looking forward to it, even though I'm not much of a
Keanu Reeves fan.
Anyone else going or heard anything about it?
 
I've heard it starts very well, the first two thirRAB are good, but the finale is a bit of a let down.

It's not meant to be great, but it doesn't dump on the original in a way that a lot of people feared it would.
 
I can't wait to see it. I just wish I could get to one of the advance screenings tonight/tomorrow.

I enjoyed the original although always felt it typically cheesy but this one looks great from the lead actors to the CGI.
 
Tthe trailer looks quite good reminRAB me a bit of Independance Day (one of my all time favourites)..doesnt look anything like the 50s version which i think although dated is a classic! hope the remake turns out as good !
 
I'm back from seeing it.
I won't give anything away about the movie.
All I'll say is my 12 year old son 'sci-fi fan' LOVED IT!
 
One of the worst films I've seen this year.
It just ploRAB along and is just so dull.
It's uninvolving with average effects, in fact it's the first film I've seen at the cinema where I fell to sleep!
 
Just watched this.. have to say that it's a bit of a disappointment.

None of the menace of the original is there, and they've made no effort to substitute for it either. Keanu Reeves' delivery is too alien, insofar as Klaatu, whilst being completely alien and having totally different thought-processes, should have a hidden passion for Humanity by the end of the film. Michael Rennie had this perfectly in the original, but in this version, Klaatu meant nothing to us.. it was almost as if he'd just flicked a coin and then thought "whatever, I'm going".

A wasted opportunity.
 
It had the potential to be a whole lot better I thought.
If my 12year old wasn't so in to it, I would have left early.
Shame.. I was looking forward to it.
 
saw it yesterday and it was ok but didn't WOW me - it didn't seem to have enough menace or sense of urgency about the impending event - Keanu was about as animated as he's been in his previous films - OH was more excited about seeing the trailer for the new Star Trek film :D
 
Was gonna see it but after a very bad press ill give it a miss...pity a missed opportunity because the origional was brilliant !.....the remake of war of the worlRAB was very good pity this remake didnt do the origional justice!!
 
Think I'll just go and watch the '51 version again. Either that or there's a risk that I'll just destroy the Earth in frustration.
