Lol. See, I thought he was dead! And so did the rest of the cinema audience because they said "Aaahhhh :(" at the very same time I did pmsl. It was great when I (and the rest of us) saw him again, it was like a sigh of relief :D



:D I'm one for sentiment (and cheese :p) so I thought that speech was perfect!

There wasn't meant to be 'closure' at the end. That's what the third film is for. My guess is that Bruce will quit as Batman and there will be a possibilty of a Dark Knight Returns 4th movie.
 
Just got back from seeing it, thought it was an excellent film, but those expecting an action movie will be disappointed because it is definitely more of a thriller. Personally i prefer it that way. Heath Ledger totally steals the show though, his performance is everything its been hyped up to be, absolutely worthy of an Oscar, and i would still be saying that if he were alive so im not just jumping on the bandwagon.

Best film ive seen this year so far, and easily the best Batman film imo.

PS: Loved the disappearing pencil trick, lol.
 
Saw this last night... and it's definately worth the hype. Heath Ledger's performance was superb, I think he's a dead cert for that oscar. The sad thing is they left it open for his return, and now that is never going to happen. On the other hand, Harvey Dent's story was brilliant, we got to see him turn from the hero of Gotham to the maniac we all knew he would become. I hope he is in Batman 3. The only criticism I have is there was loaRAB of Dent and Joker, but not as much Batman, and after all this is his movie. When Christian Bale was in it he really shone, but to me he did not dominate as much as the first film and his counterpart, Bruce Wanye, also had a very limited story. However when he was in it he was amazing. 5/5, film of the year. Nolan has done it again. And to think, only 10 years ago Batman and Robin had truley killed this francise...
 
I believe that if the story had continued (although it wouldn't have) Harvey would have eventually went after the Joker. Did anyone else not notice his genuine anger towarRAB the police dept. Then when Rachel was killed that just sent him that bit further.

As for 'Why So Serious?', everytime I see material with that on it now, it gives me the chills :)
 
When did the body bag bit happen? Was it a really quick scene?

I promise I was paying attention and the last Joker part I saw was when he was hanging off the building after talking to Batman. I was waiting to see the conclusion of the Joker's story but it felt like we were just left hanging (pardon the pun) :(

I even said to my Dad afterwarRAB that I thought that there was meant to be a bit at the end where the Joker was in a body bag but it must have been cut... Was it a blink and you miss it type thing?
 
Indeed, there was no such scene :confused: At no point was there a suggestion in the film that The Joker was dead. The SWAT team closed in after Batman left and I assumed The Joker was taken into custody.

There is no body bag scene!

BTW, I've just read that Michael Bay TDK Script that was "leaked" - I assume that was a joke script by some fanboy?
 
Saw it yesterday. Absolutley LOVED IT. Of course, Heath Ledger totally makes it, he was stunning in that movie. Best bits are the opening scene and the pencil trick.

I agree that the Batman character wasn't great. He was pretty lame to be honest, and hard to connect with -- and it didn't help that he barely did anything. I think in the whole movie he only saved a little boy, and half-saved a friend. The hospitals just blew up, no questions asked --!

Still, it didn't matter to me, I preferred to have the Joker more in the limelight anyway.

I give it four and a half stars.
 
You know somthing? I think that Quote is going to be used for a VERY long time and would probably been seen as one of the greatest Quotes of all time the way people seem to keep Quoting that now:).
 
I liked:

the interrogation scene: 'Look at you go!'
Leaving the hospital in nurse outfit
 
I've already posted my review on the Dark Knight official thread so i won't post it here lol :D but on the matter of film's length. Ok, so the film's 2 and a half hours long, from what i've read the original, and i mean truly original running time of The Dark Knight was more along the lines of being closer to 3 hours. So count yourselves lucky! Personally i didn't have a problem with it.

I have a feeling a lot more was shot which wasn't shown, i'm pretty sure it's been mentioned in another thread by some posters. Can't remember which one it was.

I don't think there will be an Extended Edition or even a Director's Cut of the film although i'd love to see the proper full length of the film.
 
We watched Batman right through to Batman and Robin last week. I remember getting my Grandad to take me to the cinema to see Batman Forever and I thought it was amazing when I was little. It was embarassing when I watched it the other day, though Jim Carrey was good.
 
Must say, I was surprised to see the Scarecrow at the start.

Anyway, really enjoyed it. Yes Heath Ledgers performance was amazing. The bit where he blows up the hospital was so funny.

Is Rachel actually dead though!? I mean, you didn't actually see her die & she could have been in another building. I'm guessing she probably is though. I'd read somewhere that the Joker stabbed her & that's how she died. Oh well....

I love this film; just went to see it for a second time, but this time on IMAX - WOW!

Saw loaRAB of things I missed last time, particularly hadn't noticed the joker in his police costume and 'light' make-up before. Joker is a charismatic madman - I love it when he scuttles from the hospital in his nurses costume - so funny.

Everyone has his own opinion - but I'm not a fanboy - just a (older) film fan who likes all sorts of movies, and I think this film is great entertainment. I agree with comments about Aaron Eckhart. I had seen him in the Company of Men, but not really taken that much notice - he is excellent in this. I also liked Bale, but more as Bruce Wayne than BM. Heath Ledger is fantastic, I wasn't a particular fan of his, though he was very good in Brokeback Mountain. But for me, he made this film; I couldn't keep my eyes of him - and I found it hard to connect the joker to Heath Ledger - he was such a complete creation - at only 28 this was actually an incredible performance. Ridiculous and mad as he was I completely believed in him and forgot that he was a young, Australian actor. Amazing.
