The Dark Knight - Bluray Disappointment

Well the cinema version is 2.35:1 , so I understand that , but I believe the IMAX bits are 1.44:1 .

so have they cropped the IMAX bits ? don't see why . for instance when I watch a tv show shot in 1.33:1 on my widescreen tv the aspect ratio remains intact it just means there are black bars on either side .
 
The lens on IMAX are so wide that the only way to display the full image on your tv would be to decrease the size of the image, thus leaving you with black bars all the way round,Like having a little image inside of a black box. Viewers wont stand for this so the only way is to display it properly and unfortunately your gonna miss part of the image at either the top or bottom. In the BB Blu ray it was framed perfectly from the bottom so that your missing information from the top. In TDK Blu ray its framed from the top downwarRAB.Thats why i said to watch out for the jokers feet during the opening shots. In BB Blu Ray you see them. in TDK you dont.
If youve got the capability to compare you will see for definate that it is cropped, and youll also see that what your missing....isnt really a lot or anything to get upset over.
 
I think most of us don't worry about the 'black bars'. I think the point is though, if you have a film that has black bars...then no black bars...then black bars again...then they have a lie down for a minute or two....oh joy, the'yre back again...etc throughout one film, visually, they can be quite jarring.
Obviously i would have preferred the entire thing was shot in IMAX. I wouldn't have had a problem with that. But it just seemed like Nolan was shouting 'hey, look at this bit especially, it's REALLY cool'.
 
Fantastic film and brilliant disc

BUT

I've noticed on my PS3 that if you stop playback and then try to resume, it returns to the beginning of the film. This is the only disc I've had this issue with and it's extremely frustrating.
I've been impressed with the PS3's ability to 'remember' it's place on a disc (even after taking the disc out and replacing it) so presumably this is something to do with the disc's authoring?
 
what an amazing film.

we watched this on BD last night on the projector so filled the wall and the IMAX scenes were simply stunning. I have never seen anything as beautiful as this transfer.

Maybe the people whining about the scene changes watched on smaller screens but to watch this unleashed on a projector is spell binding.

Heath Ledger was superb.
