I have just been to this Film
Diary of the Dead (2007)

Rewinding back to the events of 1968's seminal Night Of The Living Dead, Romero re-imagines the night the zombies first arose, as witnessed by a group of film students. The movie follows the group through the eyes of the camera held by Jason, one of the people in the group, as they try to travel to each of their homes to see their family.

I love all horror films an especially Zombie films good an bad, I think Georges film are Excellent I even liked the last one but here this one is a Marmite film , you will either love or loathe it ,
I really wanted it to be good but it isnt on par with his usual films ,
I hated the faux Blair witch type way it was shot ,
(this premise could of been far better Imho,)
it didnt make it a good film one bit ,

I hated some things the main actors did or didnt do ,you will feel the same as me when you watch it ...lol

I must say there were tiny flashes of Romeros brilliance but it was then straight back to the awful actors....
Im sorry to say it was quite a turkey really ..
It felt like it was a schlocky B movie from the Horror channel an not in Ironic way :( :(
4/10

I went to see this last night.

I agree that it was not a very good movie but it was okay, i thought.

There were a few boring parts but otherwise I was kept interested.

I saw 28 weeks later the other week, and I have to say Diary of the dead is better than that.

Certainly not on par with other big movies, but I found it interesting how they went the same direction as Cloverfield with the camcorders (well, in DOTD, they were HD cameras from the Film course being film students) being used to tell the story in the aftermath.

I agree with Long ball larry:
4/10

I loved it but then again I love zombie films and I love Romero films so I knew that I wouldn't be disappointed. I did cringe though when people were being attacked and Jason Creed didn't put down his camera a la Cloverfield. Hilarious bit was
the clown zombie kinda in the same vain as Hare Krishna zombie from Dawn of the Dead

I guess Romero was trying to update his zombie films by introding youtube and blog references throughout but I would guve it an 8/10 but then again I am biased.

I thought it was terrible. I actually can't think of anything positive that i can say about it (apart from maybe the hilarious Amish guy! "I'm Samuel, Hello", lol). Everything about the film was just bad, the laughably abysmal acting, the plot, and i'm afraid to say that i thought Romero's directing was sub-standard as well.

As far as i'm concerned, George A Romero has only made 3 "of the Dead" films: Night, Dawn and Day. Land and Diary are both rubbish imo, regardless of the muddled social commentary that Romero tries to make you believe is there. I hope to God that he doesn't make any more.

I just saw it on DVD.
I think it got generally good reviews from the critics but poor reviews from the George Romero Fans, and (being a George Romero fan myself) I agree with the fans - this film just didn't work at all.

It had a horrible "media studies" style, it was pretentious, it couldn't make its mind up as to whether it was a polished professional film or Cin
