The Da Vinci Code

I absolutely loved the book and was not disappointed with the film although some things have been changed for the film. As long as you have watched and read the Da Vinci Code you will get the all round picture.

I prefer the book to the film, the story is altered for the movie. If you hadn't have read the book you would have been confused with the film. Watch it after you have fully read the book.

I rather thought the whole thing extremely disappointing. I love the book, for me the film was more annoying because they changed so many thing that just didn't need to be changed. I imagine hefty wedge from sponsors also meant the story was practically re written to maximise revenue.

For example, the ka in the film? A different colour to the book. Why? It's only a small detail ok, but then if so why change it?

Also instead of going to the library to do research, when he is on a bus he borrows a kid's phone and does an internet search on that. Interestingly enough, again a sony one.

I just think why change it? It was fine as it was!

And Langdon and Sophie didn't kiss at the end of the film, and I liked that in the book, instead there was this massively cheesy over americanised ending trowelled onto the audience. It was ridiculous. The film enRAB about ten minutes after it neeRAB to.

The locations are great, really is exactly what I pictured when reading the book......

However Hanks isnt what I imagined when reading Robert Langdon!

Also is only one cryptex in the film.....

But it was very enjoyable! :D

I know that in Cannes the audience laughed at the most inapropriate times :o

I think it was a line that went something like "hurry! we must get to a library!" that brought the house down. :o

It seemed to vanish pretty quickly from public consciousness when it was released (the film, I mean). I thought for the film of a book that became extremely popular and even genre-defining, there would have been a bit more of a fuss made about it.

..when i watched the film i never laughed at it at all but had heard that people had laughed out loud at one part of the movie so thanks for clearing up which part it was!

I have not seen the film and have not read the book, but, I am in the middle of playing the Da Vinci Code game on the Playstation 2. I like it, the atmosphere in it is excellent when you play it at night with the lights out.

The book wasn't as good as its reviews. The film was terrible tho, I love Tom Hanks, but he was like an amatuer in this film - not suited to the role at all.
I hope they NEVER make a film about A&D, the book is so far-fetched, so a film is a bad idea.

The film is nothing compared to the book. It's slow, there's little action, whole sections are cut out (how could they leave out the search in the library and change it to a mobile phone! Ridiculous!) and the audience is treated like they are stupid.

Apart from the 'we must get to a library!' bit, there is also a bit about how some crusade began on the 13th, which was a Friday, and Audrey Tatou says incredulously 'Friday the 13th!' just in case we hadn't worked it out for ourselves.
