The Da Vinci Code Thread

I looks like they're sticking to the book quite closely. I honestly hope they don't decide to leave certain things out because they're too 'controversial'. I suppose if they did that there would be no point in making the movie at all. I have a feeling the ending will be the part that suffers.

I didn't realise till tonight that Ron Howard has made the film!!! When he has worked with Tom Hanks before the result has been great (I still love Splash!)

Tom Hanks is great - I'm sure he'll be fine as Robert Langdon.

If they are going to do the book any justice they need to stick to it closely.

I know they may want to avoid controversy, but it wont make sense if things are edited....and yes especially the ending.

I cant wait for X-MEN 3 but not looking forward to the da vinci code much cause its just going to be talking talking drama drama, but we'll have to wait and see. I agree that i dont think it was a good idea for tom hanks to be in it, but we'll see how good he is.

Cant stand tom Hanks. i really dont see him as Langdon. That mullet hairdo in the posters justs makes me laugh. I think the Da Vinci will be a disapointment. The Book is ok but its just a good bit of fiction. Read holy blood holy grail. Dan brown just ripped of that book.

Curious to see the film, as I enjoyed the book, but am not sure that the action isn't a little dull, it's the background explanations of the codes and the mysteries that make it fascinating.
So I hope they can find an effective way to portray all that; Robert & Sophie just rushing around will soon get tiresome.

I'm looking forward to seeing the film - I've already got my tickets :D

I enjoyed the book although it's not as good as Angels and Demons and I think it will transfer well to the big screen.

You can view a trailer here

The only problem I can see at the moment is that Silas, the albino monk, has short hair instead of long and dark eyes when they should be red

yes but if the catholic church gets its way we will all be banned
from seeing it, at mass on sunday my priest threatend to
expell any member of the congregation who see's the film.
I mean come on, I'm catholic and i no more believe in the
imaculate conception than i believe in fairies at the bottom
of my garden and the fact that dan brown has written a book
to suggest a bloodline from mary magdalene or is it jesus to
the present day and the catholic churches moral indignation
suggests to me there may be more truth than fiction in the book.
So I will see the film and to hell with the catholic church for trying
to tell me what to see and what to believe.

Good for you Melanie - I go to church and I will be going to the Da Vinci code.

As we know, the story is some facts - with fiction filling in the blanks. The lines are blurred and we don't really know how much is true and how much is not. This story makes you think and consider possibilites, which is good. We know definitely that there were more than 4 gospels - why were these suppressed? It may well be that someone thought the bible was too big already, but......I don't think a couple of small gospels tagged on would have made that much difference, it is pretty big anyway.

If you are a christian, you should have faith in christ, and the church should have faith in YOU as a christian - whatever may be put in your path.

A bit heavy there, I know. Anyway, it is 2006, not the middle ages - we may never know the answer to all this, but in the end just go and enjoy youself - guilt free. :)
