The Da Vinci Code Thread

I am really excited about this film! I can't wait for May. X-Men 3 and Da Vinci Code look really good. I'm not sure about Tom Hanks as Robert Langdon but I guess we'll have to wait and see.

EDIT: Changed to Hanks. I was reading a thread on Tom Cruise and I got muddled up, sorry! Imagine if it was Tom Cruise

Really, really, really, really looking forward to this film. But I definitely wouldn't have had Tom Hanks in mind to play Robert when reading the book so it will be interesting to see how he does.

Not long to go guys, 19th May 2006 is the release date. I'm going to watch The Da Vinci Code and X Men 3 on the same day for my birthday :D but X Men 3 isn't out until 26th May so I'll have to wait till the closest weekend.

I cant wait to see how this book is interpreted onto the big screen.

Am slightly concerned about Tom Hanks being Robert Langdon also, but I will give him the benefit of the doubt.

I have enjoyed pretty much all of Tom Hanks' previous films so thats a positive mark!!

The book is one of the most badly-written successful books I've ever read, which is a pity as the actual plot and themes in it are compelling. I think it'll be one of the rare examples of the film being better than the book. We'll see.

Anyone heard about a plagiarism case regarding the Da Vinci Code and two other authors who claim Dan Brown stole their ideas? I wonder if this will affect the Hollywood film?

Potentially, it could. But plagiarism is very difficult to prove and my guess is this case will fail. And I hope it does. I might think Dan Brown is a hack who's got lucky, but I'm in his corner against any chancers crawling out of the woodwork to try and grab for themselves a slice of his success.

Hasn't it turned into a copyright case now? That he used extracts from their books without permission rather than nicking ideas off them?

I must admit when I read DVC I thought I'm sure I've read this before and what do you know but Holy Blood Holy Grail was sitting on a shelf at home

I have just found out they have made a video to go with the film! I can't wait to play it although I doubt it will be any good. Movie/Book video games are almost always a let down. Not much is know about the game at the mo, not even screenshots! It's out on the 19th of May (same day as the film!)

the official playstation2 magazine had a four-page spread!
the game is developed by THE COLLECTIVE, who did MAR ECKO's GETTING UP: CONTENTS UNDER PRESSURE .....and and assisted by CHARLES CECIL, who did the BROKEN SWORD games!!!

it's apparently out on 12 may

Well most places are reporting 19th May so that it can coincide with the movie but who knows. The official website isn't up yet which is weird afterall there isn't much time left til the 19th.

EDIT: The official site meaning the games official site!
