Hi,
This is the confirmed line up for The Da Vinci Code:

Robert Langdon - Tom Hanks (Cast Away)
Sophie Neveu - Audrey Tautou (Amelie)
Bezu Fache - Jean Reno (Godzilla)
Alfred Molina - Bishop Aringarosa (Spiderman 2)
Ian McKellen - Lee Teabing (LOTR)
Paul Bettany - Silas (Wimbledon)

Anyone else?

No that's all so far. You could have chosen a better film to link Jean Reno to than Godzilla though. He's a much better actor than tripe like that. He was in Leon, Ronin for example.

That cast has been known for some time now. Haven't got around to reading the book myself so have no idea if those actors and actresses are the right choice. But I am happy to see Audrey Tautou and Jean Reno up there.

Its an excellent book. I'd throroughly recommend reading it. Is one which you can't put down.

As for the cast, Tom Hanks isn't a bad actor, I can see him doing ok as Langdon. I like Ian McKellan too but i pictured Teabing as being a big fat curly haired guy and i'm not sure he'll be like that in the movie.

Still, looking forward to seeing it. Shame they couldn't film it at Westminster Abbey, seems a little odd that they can't.

I thought Teabing would be quite skinny and frail so Ian McKellan would be ideal..

I also thought that Christopher Eccelston was going to play Silas..

Book is fantastic, can't put it down..

I also though Tom Hanks would be a little old for Langdon, I pictured him being a little younger..

So books are normally better than the films.

The book is pretty poor.

And Tom Hanks is the star.

Jees, I think Godzilla is a very appropraite film to use in linking the actors too, Jean, how you have fallen.

Hmm I like the idea as McKellen as Teabing. I mean, he showed in Corrie he could play an effective villain role. :p

Oh how they have let me down. First they cast Tom Hanks as Robert Langdon (worse miscasting I am currently trying to think of) and then they pick Paul Bettany (or as I will always think of him, man who was in a crap movie about tennis). He might well be a good actor, but I don't think that he will be able to pull off the slightly psychotic character I think of Silas as.

I agree with the people on here who have said they see Leigh Teabing as being portly and older...but maybe they will make McKellan put on some padding, or gain some weight!

Audrey Tautou and Jean Reno, funny - when I read the book I actually said to a friend, the guy from Leon would be great as the persistent cop!

I guess I was destined to be disappointed by this film, mostly because Ron Howard (Richie Cunningham as was) is directing...sure, he may have done well with Apollo 13, but that does not mean that he should cast Tom Hanks in everything!

I don't fancy Tom Hanks much as Robert Langdom either. Does anyone think Tom Hanks is the man for the position? If not who would be everyone's choice to play him?

Is it just me who thinks Liam Neeson and either Sophie Marceou/Julie Dreyfus should have been cast as Langdon and Sophie.

Audrey and Tom are VERY miscast

I think Liam Neeson is an interesting suggestion for Langdon.... very attractive in his own way. Not sure who else to suggest though. I just dont think Hanks is fanciable enough....
