I never had imagined Tom Hanks, too. But I guess, I should accept it, he's already there.

I read the book and I liked it so I'm setting my expectations high. If not met then I'll hate Ron Howard for life.

Weird, I didn't think of Langdon in a Tom Hanks sort of way. No offense, but Tom Hanks doesn't look like an academic at all

I forgot how they described him but even if they desrcibe a character a certain way I always have my own way of pictuing him/her. I don't know why I pictured Silas as weak and fragile, maybe b/c he would torture himself and I thought that wore him down

It might be panned by the critics but I don't think with 60 million copies sold of the book that translates to bad box office. Especially with the hype.

Jacob, did you read the DaVinci Code? Because although it may take a critical look at the Catholic church and it's hidden secrets of Christianity I don't think it's message is to disgrace God or Jesus. No one knows for sure what really happened in Jesus' time so whatever is said about it is always and forever will be only speculation. And taking what the bible says as historical fact is in my opinion, ignorant. Even if Jesus did marry back then how is that disgraceful? So many stories were left out of his life, that anything is possible.

What could be considered disgraceful is how Christianity was formed because a group of men were so threatened by woman and their equality with the Pagen faith that was dominate at the time. Creating a story that painted women (Eve) as evil and lesser than men. I just find it fasinating as a woman that we were considered true godesses and worshipped, even by Jesus as equals. That to me is the strongest message behind the book. Not whether or not the Opus Dei is bad or that even DaVinci himself was the grand master of the secret society. All of that does sound like fiction and frankly to easy to pick apart if you reseach hard enough. But the fundamentals of how Christianity was formed is in question and that is what made this book and now this film so captivating.

I'm a Christian as well, and I loved the story so I will go see the movie and feel no guilt while sitting there eating my popcorn and enjoying the fictional tale. My only objection to it is Tom Hanks' hair. *shivers* I also hope they don't go down the romance road either. The actress who plays Sophie is 29 and the thought of Tom Hanks flirting with a someone that young...*again shivers* It just wouldn't work. So hopefully they'll have left that by the wayside.

I live in Florida and I was watching on the news how some Catholics are protesting against the movie because of what it's about. Although I'm a devout Catholic myself, no movie is going to change my faith like that - ever. I'm just going to see it for entertainment purposes and that's it!

I got hooked to Angels & Demons right from the start this past weekend. I can barely put it down, but work gets in the way.

I went to Barnes & Noble today and there were two huge walls dedicated to Dan Brown's novels and several other books dealing with related topics (goddesses, the Holy Grail, Mary Magdalene, symbology, art, etc.) near the entrance door. It was the first thing I noticed.

I watched it last night and it was very interesting. The whole thing just made me think and it was like... Whoa. My cousin has been completely obsessed with the book and now I see why. I really liked it and now I see why the whole nation has been so into this. Some things I got confused about but my cousin explained it. I've never read the book but I will now because I'm definately intrigued and I know the books are always better than the movies.

I also had Viggo as my first choice. Art appreciation, the style, the hair... I actually visualized Viggo while I was reading The Da Vinci Code. But I'll give Hanks the benefit of my doubt, he's a good actor anyway.

Tom Hanks is an awesome actor, but there's nothing "Langdon" about him. I think it was a terrible choice. When I was reading the book I pictured someone more like Pierce Brosnan, Harrison ford..., I don't know, someone sexier, more charming. Audrey as Sophie also seems wrong to me. Like hayls80 I pictured Rachel Weiss, or maybe Julianne Moore. Even Julie Delpy would be better. Now Sir Ian was an excellent choice. He totally fits Teabing. I also liked Molina as Aringarosa. I hope they cast Ron Pearlman as Silas, I can only picture him in that role. But who knows... Maybe in the big screen these wrong characters' choices won't suck as much as they do now in my head.

This was a great piece of fiction. I hope they don't try to make this seem real. I hope they pull it off a little bit like National Treasure was. It's a fantasy tale, while some of the ties to history can be made, they don't add up to what they do in the book.

Unfortunately I didn't like the movie at all. Was quite bored through the whole thing. The book was definitely better. I really went in with an open mind and didn't try to compare the two, but the movie just didn't grab or hold me at all. And I did feel certain characters were miscast. The biggest one being Hanks as Langdon. Not sure if that was his fault (he is a great actor) or if it's the way he was written in the screenplay, but just didn't work for me. But, overall I did think the performances were good.

The standout for me was Paul Bettany as Silas. Wow! Amazing performance.

Heck yeah! I'm practically counting down the days (lol). It actually comes out the day before my birthday, but I'm going to see "Cats" with my mom on my birthday, so maybe I'll be able to see DaVinci Code on opening day--I wish :D

I'm a fan of Tom Hanks but I'm kinda wanting this movie to bad at the box office. I just think this movie is a inappropriate and a little offensive. I might sound crazy but I feel like if I see this movie that I would be disgracing God and Jesus. I will admit that I'm a Christian but I'm not gonna stone people that see The DaVinci Code, LOL. I just think this movie is a little disrespectful to God and Christianity and the Catholic church.

I read the book about a year ago and now watched the movie. I liked it. the book was better but the movie helped to illustrate things. but some details of the book were left out and I didn't like that they changed the ending a little.

The background information of the book makes the story a little more realistic than it seemed in the movie.

But I really loved the music. I hope they'll be able to do Angels and Demons as a movie. I liked that book even more. But it's probably gonna be difficult with the Vatican.

good and entertaining movie. But it was rated for children to be at least 12 years old which I think is a little too young.

I read the book, but while reading the characters were kinda blurry in my head,so I didn't really think of any special actors whenI read it..

But I think Tom Hanks is a really good actor,I'm not sure if he's the right to play Landon, but we'll see

I LOVE Audrey Tautou though. I LOVE Amelie and she was truly amazing in it. Also, I just saw her new movie, 'A very late engagemnt' last weekend and she was extremly good in that aswell. That movie was alot more dramatic and a different genre than Amelie, but she still nailed it,so I tink she would be really good as Sophie

it's been confirmed that tom hanks will be robert langdon in the screen adaptation of the da vinci code. :)

S.A.S.H.A.: i still can't remember hisname or what movie he was in. my relatives were having a fun time kidding me around because i seemed so distracted!

I thoght the actor who played the Bishop should have been casted as Langdon b/c when I was reading the book I pictured him to look a lot like that actor
