To the Church as an institution... Or those regular people IN the church?
You can say both, but the former is how I can understand them wanting to kill to keep the secret... To keep them in power...
But just like Robert said at the end of the movie, if the truth came out, would it shatter people's -- as in regular members of the church -- Faith, or re-invigorate it?
It was obviously a PC (Politically Correct) perspective, but this is what I meant when I said had this come out during a much more religous time like the Crusades (in the past), I think it might have had a bigger impact than now. Granted, people are religious now, but not compared to the days of old when wars were literally fought over and empires lived and died by religions and religous fervor is my point.
