I don't quite like the movie poster either..

and yeah, Tom and Sophie seem like an unlikely movie pair..but after all, it's just a movie right?

I'm definitely gonna see this flick...fascinating!

From boxofficemojo.com, they are estimating that The DaVinci Code made around 77 million dollars this weekend. That is just an early estimate.

Audrey is that actress from Amelie. :)

Yeah, over a year ago. I preferred the prequel, Angels & Demons. That one was really awesome. But I guess this one is more popular because of the Jesus thing.

Amazing article! Thanks for posting, Sasha! :glow:

In a weird way I believe Passion of the Christ might've paved the way for an adaptation like The Da Vinci Code.

One could write a book based on the timing and modern context of a book/film like The Code. First of all the Catholic Church had lost many believers and is said to be on one of its worst periods, losing power and catholics to "alternate religions", etc.

Yet this book has a theory that attacks the base of all the Catholic/Christian faith and it DID cause an uproar and spawn serious conversations and analisis of Christian history. But Passion of the Christ showed that the Christian faith still moves the masses, even to the theaters, so all claims that Christian faith was declining were halted. This book, however, goes against what Christians hold so dear so the audience it has probably branches way outside, even to people who call themselves atheists.

Then we have the new Pope which is quite vocal and strong. The book/film may be fiction but it's based on sacred reality so. Must be tough!

I just finished "Angels and Demons" the other day and call me obsessed but I cant help myself picturing Robert as Colin Firth  While reading The Da Vinci Code I always thought that he would fit perfectly though I knew that Tom Hanks would cast for his role but anyway, I started A&D (which IMO is even better than The Da Vinci Code) and I couldn't help it again.. in my mind Colin kept appearing as Robert :sigh:

Yeah, that's my opinion too. The Illuminati plot in A&D is just amazing and much more thrilling but The Da Vinci Code with all the theories about Jesus and his life is like it's gonna provoke more controversy. I'd like a movie about Angels and Demons too though :)

Ok, just a pic of my impossible candidate

Oh, c'mon, don't you picture him with a Harris tweed and a Mickey Mouse watch?

I hope they don't remove the "controversial" religious elements from the book. That would totally ruin the story.

I think Dan Brown was just trying to make it easier for the reader...unaware that he underestimates us. :P It's a lot of information in one book, so again, he seemed like he was trying trying to make it easy.

Although, I didn't like the ending to the book at all. Throughout the book there's all of this excitment and action as they are being chased and at the same time trying to figure out the codes...and then it just, stops all of a sudden? Didn't like that at all. :nono:

Hi guys. I just finished seeing the movie, which was very long (about 2.5 hours). I'd have to say it was pretty good but lots of information to process and keep up with. Strictly something to watch but nothing that I could really take seriously.

Well it seems that after all Tom Hanks will be playing Langdon. They chose Jean Reno for Besu Fache. I actually like this choice. Well, let's wait and see who else will be chosen.

To the Church as an institution and to the very devoted memebers.
but i can see what you mean in your last statement

My faith wouldn't change but I'm sure some others who are very religious would be outraged and maybe feel betrayed.

I would imagine - I saw an actual ad for it the other day, which means it's in post-production and getting ready to roll.

Just checked IMDb and they no longer have it listed as being in post-production, so it's a definite go.
