shannen doherty as sophie? if they cast her i would have really really angry. she is just so not sophie, she doesn't work at all. i really like the casting of sophie, audrey was amazing in amelie. she played a really complicated character in that movie, which is what she plays in the da vinci code i think too.

i can't wait to see who teabing will be.

Am I the only one who thought the movie didn't live up to the book. I felt everything was hand-fed to you and overly narrated for the people who didn't read the book.

It was okay, worth seeing but I wanted the same impact the book gave me I guess.

I agree with both points you made.

The flashbacks were well done and I didn't expect them, i guess b/c in the book they took up alot more time and how much can you go into it for a movie. But it waswell done

and I agree about the grandfather thing being changed. The book version was was better.
[sp]I actually thought the dark haired man following them would be her brother but no[/sp]

I am not digging on Tom Hanks as Langdon.

I never even considered him for the running, though he is a good actor. He could pull off the role, but he wouldn't be what I imagined.

Was anyone else kinda hoping for a sexier Langdon? Hanks just doesn't do it for me.

Now, I hear Julie Delpy might be up for the role of Sophie. This choice? Would SO make up for Hanks as Langdon. She's not a big name though, and I'm sure there would be other great French actresses for the role, but I love Delpy in Sunset/Sunrise, and I would love it if she took on a big budget movie.

I was glad the watch was there, too. I was assuming they included that because they have Angels and Demons in mind for the next film. :)

What's the buzz as far as buying advanced tickets for this one? Has anyone heard? I won't be able to see it on Friday but I want to see it Saturday and I'm not sure if I should go ahead and buy them now or wait. The last time I bought advanced tickets was for Goblet of Fire opening night and I'm thinking this will be a hot ticket as well.

I have a feeling that this movie is going to be super super huge compared to all the others this summer. The media buzz for it down at the Canne film fest is the biggest they've ever had.

You should read the book first, if you haven't already.

Man, please not Tom Hanks. I just can't see Forrest Gump as Langdon. *moans*

I'm curious as to who will play Sophie. In my opinion, she was the most interesting character in the book, a lot of the things revolved around her and her relationship with her grandad (well, duh) and I really do expect highly of the actress who plays her. Because that's what I do with characters I love, I do not want to be disappointed.

Angels & Demons came before The Da Vinci Code so I feared it wouldn't get a chance at being a movie but I don't know what I was thinking. When there's a will ($$$$$), there's a way. ;)

If done right Angels & Demon could be such a cool movie. Of course it's a little touchy since it's about terrorism in a way.

DreamWalker I'm SO with you about Paul Bettany. And I thought he was miscast because he's very good looking and Silas is supposed to be anything but... It didn't matter, he rocked that role!

Im so excited to see this film. Im such a fan of all Dan Brown novels. i just hope they will live up with the book. such a bad thing that here in Manila, Philippines, it'll just be shown in selected cinemas. the church R protesting it not to be totally release here. whata' damn idea there's a lot of depresing things happening here to be taken care of, not this film. it's just a film.

I just wanted to say that I saw the movie again for the second time tonight and I love it!

I'm not even sure people would want to boycott the movie? Why? It all happened inside Dan Brown's head, he did a lil' research, wrote a novel, publish and sell it. It's right under the fiction section. So what's all the fuss?

Sasha I like ANgels and Demons better, too. I want that to be a movie.

can't wait to see it...my beliefs won't change u know  but i like a movie that really pulls your brain into it. :D There's gonna be a special segment aired on TV called Behind the DaVinci Code.something like that next week. :D

I saw this in theaters..very good until the end. The book was probably better

Yeah I gotta admit I was impressed with how they handled the backstory sequences. Very seamless. I don't get when the critics were harping on the fact that the big revelations in the book didn't seem to translate to the screen. I actually had no idea that they would make the effort to recreate all those historical moments. So I was mighty impressed with them.

And when Robert and Leigh were arguing over the history of Jesus' life and what's fact and what isn't, I thought that was well played. Giving the audience both sides of the story.

I guess my only issue with the film was the fact that Tom Hanks didn't really make an impression with me. He's the hero of the story but I didn't really care. He was just there. Wallpaper, basically. But everything else I loved.
