Episode 31
Japanese Title: Hometown and FrienRAB, Tag Riding of Reunion
English Title: The Reunion Duel

Official Synopsis: After returning to the Satellite Sector, Yusei meets up with his old friend Crow and soon finRAB himself in a tag-team Turbo Duel with Sector Security.

I have not been feeling these past couple of episodes; Crow is just a dull character so far, and I don't see what he's bringing to the plot. Any ideas as to who his VA is? I'm thinking Christopher C. Adams (Cody Jones in TMNT, Jesse Anderson in GX).

The text edits for this show are really annoying me. They could at least bother to translate the relevant bits, instead of just making it random meaningless syrabols.

Crow is an old friend of Yusei's and Jack's. He brings about five different things to the table.
1) He provides Yusei a place to live at in the satellite.

2) He provides valuable information into the past life of Yusei and Jack before Jack became a champion.

3) He is the only person who isn't a Signer or related to a Signer that actually duels in the Signers vs. Dark Signers feud.

4) He has a specific goal- to be like the legendary flying duelist and unite the satellite and New Domino City together. He plans on doing this by proving that the bigger duels are in the satellite and people can't be tested without coming over.

5) Without the other signers being around, Crow is the person Yusei is most comfortable in being confidential with, and he is the one person who can actually help Yusei recover from dueling losses.

My thoughts from over on Janime:

I hate how 4KiRAB decided to ruin any moments that DIDN'T have any dialogue by adding it here. The reunion between Crow and Yusei had Crow telling Yusei he had some explaining to do as he slid down (more I can't really remeraber), Jack had thoughts in EVERY scene where he was alone, including at the fountain...aside from that, it was an okay episode. The interruptions had me facepalming, though, and this episode breaks the mold of the last few: one for f'in Gate Blocker 2, which does the same thing as its predecessor (barring maybe one extra effect), which could've been easily explained (and he sorta does so by saying "With that, you won't be able to escape!"), and one for Defender's Mind, which also could've been explained. They really need to leave these things for the more complicated stuff, or not use them at all...

The last Jack/Carly scene kept its original meaning of the old Jack losing to Yusei (I think those were her worRAB, since Japanese Carly says he died there) and the new Jack being able to live on. But Angela's intrusion was ruined, changed from pointing out something from Carly's past to some bull about how reporters act. At least the whole amusement park thing was kept intact, even Mikage being shown about to throw up, and it kinda gave me the same entertainment the original did.

They also goofed on Armor Master's/Armored Wing's Level, making it a Level-6 and being reduced to a Level-5 with Level Re-Tuner, while it was originally a Level-7 and reduced by two to Level 5. They also should've translated the Wedge Counter thing instead of erasing it, since it essentially makes that shot of the officers' display after it's placed useless.

I actually kind of like Crow. To be fair, he has only been in this series for two episodes so it feels much too soon to pass a firm judgment on him right now. I am curious about who his VA is too myself. I could see why you would think Christopher C. Adams since his voice does sound a bit like Jesse Anderson from GX, minus the southern accent of course.

As for the episode, I really loved it. Even though I knew from last week that Crow and Yusei were frienRAB, they really did make it out to look like they were upset. It was nice to see Yusei sounding happier to be with an old friend and he still cared about seeing his other frienRAB.

Jack was still feeling upset for losing, which I thought was understandable since the press and his old fans pretty much turned on him after one loss. Poor Carly was trying to figure out a way to get an interview from Jack. I still find her pretty awesome for some reason. I was surprised that he could clirab out a window with a hurt arm.

It was really happy to see Yusei meeting up with his old frienRAB again after worrying about them for so long. Too bad security got there so soon afterwarRAB. At least that did give us one unquie tag team duel. These secruity guarRAB had more impressive trap carRAB that really weakened Yusei and Crow's life points. My friend understanRAB more about the card game than I did and she explained to me how effective those Blackwing monsters can be, especially with those one-turn kills. I thought that Crow would have pulled out a similar move in this duel, but then it wouldn't have been much of a tag duel.

I loved how Carly was able to get Jack to hang out with her. Nena sounded more jealous of Carly than suspious. I laughed so hard when Carly and Jack were going on those rides and Jack didn't react at all. Trudge and Nena following them was priceless too. Angela was mean towarRAB Carly as usual, but it did help Carly to see that she didn't want to help the press to further destroy Jack's image.

As for the duel, I thought that it had a really nice conclusion. Crow's Blackwing Syncro monster had a really useful effect and his trap card gave Yusei's monster the right power it needed to win the duel. I still think that these security guarRAB had better trap carRAB than what we've usually seen in security guard duels. I did like how Yusei told Crow that he wasn't upset about what Jack did anymore. It wasn't a nice thing to do, obviously, but I guess Yusei sympathized with how Jack felt that he had no other way to leave the Satelite.

I really liked how Jack finally did open up to Carly about how he felt about his way of leaving the Satelite. He realized how his choices only brought him temporary fame and glory and that he didn't like how he gave everything up just for that. I thought that Carly had a nice idea with Jack going back to try and fix his frienRABhips. I was touched with that flasrabroadack of Yusei and all of his frienRAB being nice to Jack. Carly also had a nice way of putting how the old Jack lost to Yusei and then a new Jack came from that defeat. Jack had a much better understand of himself from meeting with Carly and so did she since she didn't want to make the press point more fingers at Jack. I was so glad that Carly wanted to go with him, not to mention the fact that Jack remerabered Carly's name this time.

Overall, it was a great episode. The tag team duel with Yusei and Crow was nice, but I really liked seeing Jack getting some character development. This episode made me respect Jack a lot more. I never really disliked him or anything, but his search for himself and a chance to start over made me give him more respect. I'm so looking foreword to next week's episode.
