The CW4Kids Talkback: TMNT Top 10 (Spoilers)

Should have been higher and I wasn't even home to watch it but that's okay I've got the DVD so I'll pop it in some time soon to relive the greatness that is Same as it Never Was.

Very glad it at least made the list.

Now all I want is for Insane in the Membrane to air. Then this list wont be a complete waste of everyone's time.

it was "Same as it never was" While I would have had it at least at number five that episode is not as great as it once was. It's one of those episodes that's amazing the first time around but when the hype wheres off it's still a great episode but not the "greatest."

Here's hoping for "Tale of Master Yoshi."

I thought that the promo could have been a reason for how this episode got on the countdown. Still, it's pretty cool since they probably thought that "Same as it Never Was" was one of the best episodes around in the series.

I actually never saw this episode until today. I missed a lot of season three and season four episodes. It was awesome and definitely deserved to be in the top ten list. I might have placed it as number five instead, but it was nice to see a really good episode after last week's lackluster choice. I was really surprised with how dark this episode was, especially for it to air as a Saturday morning cartoon. That just blew me away. It was a really awesome episode and I hope that the next episode will also be enjoyable.

That's actually a pretty funny promo: "good stuff, good stuff." It doesn't really matter to me what order the top ten is in, just as long as they're getting the right episodes in the top 10. "Same As It never Was" is the first one so far that I would agree with being in the top ten.

We finally reach this fan favorite. It doesn't seem to have aged very well, but it still holds up in repeated viewings.

The only other thing I have to say is how surprising it is that so many characters were killed off in this episode, even if it was an alternate future. It actually kind of reminds me of that Xiaolin Showdown finale when Omi is forced to abandon his friends as they help him return to the past.

If this turns out to be true, then thank you for relieving my fears. I would have been very angry if they chose anything from Fast Foward - and I would have been horrified if that episode was one involving Triple Threat. :p

I thought that it was an appropriate episode for the number one spot too. I thought that it was the best episode from season five and it did have an awesome fight scene with the turtles and the demon Shredder as dragons. I'm a big fan of dragons, so that's one reason why I really enjoyed the episode. The ad for Turtles Forever looked pretty cool and I'm looking foreword to seeing it next weekend.

I'm actually a bit surprised that both "Enter the Dragons" made it in the list--I'd have thought that they'd have split the vote as well. I was actually expecting "A Better Mousetrap" to show up, so that we'd have the first four episodes.

So, now that we're done, which ten episodes would you have wanted to see on the list?

Not in any particular order:

1)Shredder Strikes Parts 1 and 2
2)Shredder Strikes back Parts 1 and 2
3) Return to New York Trilogy
4) Secret Origins Trilogy
5) Rouge in the House Pt. 1 and 2
6) Same as it Never was
7) Exodus Pt. 1 and 2
8) Legend of the Five Dragons (Saki origin)
9) Hun on the Run
10) Timing is Everything (Best Fast Forward ep)

As you can see, I think the 2k3 series was at its best during all the heavy Shredder/Foot Clan episodes.

I liked many other episodes of the show, but they really did an amazing job with the Foot Clan in this show. It was 2k3's greatest strength to see Shredder, Karai, Elite Guards, all divisions of the Foot, Hun, Baxter, and the Demon Shredder areas.

And honestly, the TMNT franchise in general is always in its prime during the TMNT Vs. Shredder/Foot type of stories. Cyber Shredder was alright, but not as good as the original two Shredder's.

With exception of the #1 spot each episode afterwards is randomly listed. Also, I haven’t seen seasons 3 and 4 since they first aired so that’s why they don’t have much of a presence on my list.

1. DNA Is Thicker Than Water - Probably the most engrossing story of the series, IMO. The interactions between Leo and Dark Leo was top notch stuff.

2. Outbreak - Bishop is my favorite villain in the series so it was great to see him have so much screentime in season four. I always love learning about character’s backstories and Agent Bishop’s didn’t disappoint. The opening scene of his past was relatively short but it gave great insight why he is who he is. It also had a number of chilling moments like Bishop being probed and then probing an alien, the utility worker screaming as he’s mutated, Bishops body melting, the agents burning the mutants, and the pedestrian being attacked by the mutant pigeon. We don’t see most of those scenes in explicit detail but that makes them all the more effective.

3. Shredder Strikes Back Part Two - 15+ minutes of wall-to-wall action. The fight choreography this episode was simply amazing. I would also like to point out a certain moment where Splinter says the following to Shredder: “Attacking us with overwhelming numbers?! It is not the way of a true warrior.” Shredder is completely taken aback by Splinter’s words which I found really interesting but weird at the same time. In seasons 2 & 3 its pretty apparent that Ch’rell knows that he's evil and dishonorable but during that one scene in season one he was written as if he actually believed his actions were just. It would have been interesting to see the writers expand on that, but alas.

4. Secret Origins Part Three - Pretty much for the same reasons as above. Constant well choreographed action that had me on the edge of my seat. My favorite part was the turtles and Splinter giving Utrom Shredder his biggest beat down. I also wish we were shown more of the Mortu vs Shredder fight.

5. Fallen Angel - My favorite Purple Dragon episode. It had some great comedy and action and I wont ever forget the part where Angel knocks Casey out with a small bag of money!

6. Return to New York Part Three - Lots of epic moments in an already epic three parter. The turtles run the gauntlet and finally make it to Shredders throne room where they face off against Stockham. After that we get Splinter being kicked out the window, the turtles finally defeating the Elite Guard, and Leo beheading Shredder. This episode had some great art direction and presentation ; Leo holding up the Sword of Tengu, Shredder summoning the Elite Guard, the turtles looking at the screen after Shredder is defeated, etc.

7. The Search for Splinter Part One - I loved the parts with Raph when he rips apart the punching bag and then later when he is about to go berserk on the car thief. Other great scenes were the turtles fooling the Guardian with the fake Shredder dummy and planting a tracer on him, Mikeys remark about Don's puppet pigeon, everyone crowding around Don as his controls the robot cam, and Casey acting like a lunatic over a toaster.

8.Way of Invisibility - Casey being an unwelcome guest, Raph’s “ yo momma” to Hun, the Foot Tech Ninja fights, all awesome stuff.

Wedding Bells and Bytes - Great finale. We get to see Casey and April tie the knot and the turtles and all their allies defeat the Shredder and his army.

10. Lone Raph and Cub - My favorite Raphael centric episode. We usually see him co-star with Casey or his brothers so those times when he isn’t with them is a treat. His interactions with the kid were hilarious and seeing him kick the Mafia’s butts was awesome. I wish the Mob was shown more throughout the series because I felt the Foot and Purple Dragons had too much exposure at times.

My absolute least favorite episode would probably be Junklantis. The first Garbageman episode was fairly decent, almost the same as that B:TAS episode where they collect homeless to work somewhere.

The second one was terrible. What made them think Garbageman needed a second episode? I'll also say the FF episode where Raph wrestles Triple Threat was pretty bad, which is why FF got off to a weak start, as that was only the fourth episode of the season.

I agree. There's a couple episodes in the series that I thought were subpar but Junklantis was just... ugh. That things deserves to be in a category of its own.

Not being the episodes you wanted =/= rigged poll. And yes there was an online poll, I even voted on it once.

Look at the 4Kids forums, look at the 4Kids website, it's all young kids on there. And young kids going around on the website are the ones who are going to be using that poll the most, even if plenty of these kids didn't even really watch much - if any - of the series.

Seasons 3 and 4 are the only two seasons that haven't aired recently. They aired three, four years ago. The target age of the show is 6-11 year olds. So they were 3-8 when those seasons were on, so they probably don't even remember them, if they were even watching the show then. "Same As It Never Was" slipped through because that's one that pretty much every hardcore fan rallies around.

The thing is, these selections don't make sense from a 4Kids rep perspective either. A rep would probably try to pick one or two from every season, and a rep would probably want some Shredder episodes on there, given how big a part of the series the Shredder was. But these choices would make no sense. There's no conspiracy to favor BTTS and FF, not only because FF only has one episode on there in the first place, but there's no reason to either, because the series is over anyway.

To me, the choices only make sense if you think of the bulk of the voters as being kids who haven't seen that much of the series. And that's the bulk of people who visit the website. Pretty simple logic to me.
