The CW4Kids Talkback: TMNT Top 10 (Spoilers)

FURTURE SHELLSHOCK?!?!?!?!?!?

What the shell is wrong with these people?

That episode was one of the weakest in Fast Forward and that's saying something.

Alright I don't even care anymore... the list is a joke (I know I should have expected as much but there were some older fans voting as well). All I want is for Insane in the Membrane to air and I'd like to see Same as it Never Was air again but just as long as the yet to be aired TMNT season 4 episode gets on the air at least once I'm content.

I guess this means kids really did like FF and BTTS more than Seasons 1-5.

I guess 4kids knew what kids wanted all along. Shame for us who liked the darker TMNT stories of Seasons 1-5 though.

The thing that sticks out about Same As It Never Was as opposed the rest of the list is that the hardcore fanbase is just in love with it. The rest seem to be the products of the younger vote (ie ones that have aired recently).

There was probably only one episode that the whole fandom wanted on the list more than Same As It Never Was and that's Insane in the Membrane. So I don't know, I think there's a decent chance it's #1. Maybe the CW will have no problem with airing it, as Fox did.

I'm guessing the reason the Shredder episodes are so neglected on this list is that they're pretty much all multi-parters, and the multi-parters probably split votes among the individual parts. Could be wrong though.

Is there really any proof kids voted for these episodes though? Were there any polls on 4kids website for this?

This list just seems to be done by some random 4kids rep to me.

Only unlike Mr. West's claim that was legit.

Thing is though if Fast Forward supposedly did better with kids then why did the toys stop selling during Fast Forward?

But again kids liking a more light hearted less story heavy TMNT concludes that to have another Ninja Turtles series that could last longer than 2003's did you'd have to embrace more of the camp of the 80s cartoon. Fast Forward tried to do this but IMO pretty much failed at it because it generally lacked the charm of the 80s cartoon that made those campy moments funny. It was laughable but not in a good way but at the same time they tried to have these legitament threats like the Dark Turtles but it didn't really mesh well. The 2003 cartoon on the other hand understood when to be funny and when to be serious making it a lot more akin to generally serious comic book cartoons and that was great and will always be great. Too bad that's not what kids wanted but hey we got 5 good seasons out of it and with an American cartoon today that's a triumph.

Yes, online voting was open the entire summer and was supported by an extensive ad campaign on The CW4Kids (they made probably ten separate promos for just the voting).

And I really doubt 4Kids themselves came up with this list...the results are pretty indicative of what episodes kids would choose, i.e., episodes they've seen recently.

I'm surprised that people liked Future Shellshock. If I had to choose one FF episode to be on this list, I would have gone for either The Fall of Darius, Turtle X-Tinction, or DNA is Thicker than Water. Well, considering that they're still fairly early in this list, it might have better episodes later on.

Sadly the "recently aired factor" plays in account for the fast forward and BttS episodes on the list, and not even the best of the series ether. Man.

At least the other two were not horrible episodes, but Future Shellshock? Noooo.

Oh and I might change my "Worst episode" choice to a triple threat episode when I get to them, I'm kind of rewatching and mini reviewing every episode on gamefaqs. I have eight episodes left of season four to go. To move on to "The lost season" that is.

"Future Shellshock" was just the shock of how much the show changed in a single episode.

As for the plot of that episode, it wasn't too bad. Just the typical first episode set-up where you're introduced to a lot of things at once and don't know how to take it all in.

Can you really imagine a bunch of kids voting for stuff like DNA Is Thicker Than Water, Insane In The Membrane, or Outbreak? There going to pick stuff that's easy to remember and that are big events or series firsts, for example; Things Change is the first episode, Wedding Bells and Bytes is the last episode, SAINW is the one where Shredder rules the world, Tales of Leo is the first episode where the Turtles are toddlers, Meet Casey Jones is his debut episode, SuperQuest is the videogame/World of Warcraft episode, Future Shellshock is the episode where the turtles first go to the future, Enter the Dragons has the turtles joining with all their allies and enemies, and Attack of The Mousers is where we find out how the guys became the Ninja Turtles.

I'm not trying to say kids are dumb but I have serious doubts the average 6-12 year old is going to pick something due to it being well written, having character development, an extremely well choreographed fight scene with fluid animation, or an origin story for a character who rarely appears (Yoshi).

No, kids actually did it. There was a voting page on the 4kids website. They just didn't vote on any season 3 or 4 episodes (besides same as it never was) because they didn't watch it. So, even if there is many dissapointments on this list, be glad with what you have. There was also millions of votes, so it was voted by kids.

SuperQuest had a least one fantastic moment that made the episode worth watching Future Shellshock was nothing special and was rather disappointing for a season opener. Not worthy of a top 10 list by any means but if it was on this list... it should have been 10th place.

I thought "SuperQuest" was pretty funny, but I can see where it has its flaws (though the enemy turning out to be a little girl, and the elf guy being Hun was amusing)

My fav. Fast Forward episode was "Graduation Day: Class of 2105".

I doubt that the list was created by someone from 4Kids. As others have mentioned, most of the episodes on this list have aired on their block in the past year. Plus, most of the events in these episodes stick out and are easier to remember than say some of the better written episodes of the series. If it was made by a 4Kids rep, I think that it would have more focus on all of the seasons, instead of being mainly from season one, FF and BttS.

That's a good point. While I don't think kids aren't intelligent, I don't think that they picked the same kind of episodes people here generally would. Most of the episodes I would have chosen would have been for being well written and strong character development, while many kids would probably focus more on the big events in the series.

I thought that Super Quest was a fun episode since it incorporated an online gaming environment, it had some funny moments and Hun being revealed as a hardcore gamer was a nice little twist at the end. I still don't think that it's a top ten list kind of episode, but it is overall enjoyable and one of my favorite episodes of BttS.

As for Future Shellshock, I didn't think that it was anything special either. The plot was just about how everyone was suddenly transported to a different time. I didn't think that it was that interesting and it was weird that they seemed to easily ajust to life in the future at the end of the episode. I still would have preferred one of the later FF episodes since I thought that was when the season was beginning to improve and become more interesting. I'm still hoping that next week will have a better episode.

Seasons three through five really was then this show was at the top of its game.

I definitely could've imagined that being the case. But people are saying there actually was a poll.
