The CW4Kids Talkback: TMNT Top 10 (Spoilers)

TMNT 2k3 still deserved a better ending than this.

Why Playmates/4kids pulled the plug is beyond me. Revamping the designs for only 13 episodes was ridiculous.

The animators/artists must think it was an insult to them.

And Im hoping that "Turtles Forever" provides that ending. I mean after only watching the one scene, I've got this feeling that it's gonna be something special.

Man, since the first week I keep missing episodes of this. Further proof that I just can't get up on Saturday mornings I guess.

I saw the last few minutes of todays ep. I totally missed BTTS (not a morning person) but what I saw made it seem like an okay finale (nowhere near as good as Ninja Tribunal finale, IMHO).

Guess I'll just wait till next week.

Gads, no! Those in particular have been reaired ad nauseaum. I really hope the bulk of the "best" consists of season 3/season 4 episodes--the ones that haven't been collected in season collections.

"Tales of Leo"? An unconventional choice, although the chance to see it again gave me an idea of why it might have been selected; it's one of the series' few truly emotional episodes, and one that actually manages to truly all the right notes. It's also got some pretty good dialogue; it surprises me how natural some of the dialogue in the Foot scenes sounds--the series hasn't always been entirely graceful in dealing with the restrictions on death-related words, but it's dealt with quite well here.

I'm actually hoping for no/very few multi part episodes in this top ten. While they are great episodes it would be wrong to say have one part of a multi part story in this countdown. Just my opinion.

I'm sure that movie will be good, but it still isn't intended to be an end of the 2k3 universe as a whole. Its just a celebration of the 25th anniversary.

Isn't it ironic that the special intended to celebrate 25 years of TMNT is also its death? What are they celebrating? 25 years...and that's all folks?

Hm, Tales of Leo? That's an interesting but pretty decent choice. Certainly far better than any number of Fast Foward or BTTS episodes they could have chosen.

I agree, but I'm honestly wondering if that will happen, since so many of the important events over the series happened in the multi-parters. Hopefully I'll be proven wrong - because there's a lot of great standalone episodes in the series as well. :)

I'm not a huge fan of the cameo-fest that the final episode featured. I mean it's a nice bit of fanservice, but still, probably 3/4 of the wedding guests conceivably couldn't have cared less about the event. Case in point, the Ninja Tribunal. Why would they take time out of their busy schedule to attend the union of two people they've never even met?

Of course not, but you can probably thank the 25th anniversary for TMNT 2003 lasting even this long. It could have been over already. The 25th anniversary kept the franchise relevant to advertisers and marketers.

It looks like it's time for TMNT to take another little break but it wont be gone long with the new movie in the works.

Should 4kids have made more episodes? Yes, because it was always the best show they ever had. Does it NEED more episodes? No, especially with the lower quality since Fast Forward I'd say it's better they ended while it was still a good cartoon.

Wedding Bells and Bytes doesn't really feel like an adequate ending but I guess it at least ties up more things than the finale of the Ninja Tribunal season did.

Turtles Forever from what I've read, seen could be looked as a tie-up to much of what has already existed from the Ninja Turtles franchise.

Though I question what a true conclusion to TMNT 2003 would be? They've defeated Shredder in every way except kill him. There is the remaining Foot Clan under Karai's leadership that could always serve as a villian along with Bishop and Stockman but as both are good guys in Fast Forward... I'm not sure where they'd go with those two.

I wouldn't really be interested in new characters if they're along the lines of what we've seen in Fast Forward and Back to the Sewers... but I would have liked to see The Shredder Wars. Perhaps that could have been the conclusion to the franchise. It would have at least dealt with the major antagonists for the series well enough.

Yes, but we have no idea if the movie will spurn interest in another cartoon being made.

Back to the Sewers should have at least gotten 26 episodes like FF did. Seeing 13 episodes with new designs was pointless. The season would have also been more fleshed out if we got 26 episodes.

It honestly felt like the carpet was pulled out from under me. And to think, this is the 25th anniversary of the franchise no less. Way to celebrate it with its "death," might as well just rename it "The Death of TMNT" and be done with it.

Of course it'll spur interest in another cartoon but by then 4kids may not even have the resources to make another series if they have the rights anymore (which they may not).

Yeah I'll agree that Back to the Sewers should have been 26 episodes as we could have at least gotten The Shredder Wars out of that I'd imagine. 13 was rushed, way too rushed. Too much was going on.

You feel like the carpet was pulled out from under you? You really need to stop acting the victim here. TMNT 2003 had a good, long and strong run. Be greatful for that. TMNT is a franchise with staying power. It'll be back in full force again some day but this generation just didn't quite catch the fever like the previous one but who is to say that the next generation wont love TMNT like we do? We can't predict the future like that.

We are not celebrating the death of TMNT here. We're celebrating the ending of another chapter in the franchises 25 year history and I will celebrate it because those years are worth celebrating even if they're over and gone.

The problem is neither CN nor Disney would want a new TMNT series. TMNT bombed on CN and I doubt Disney would care.

If 4kids loses the rights to TMNT, or if the 4kids block itself goes under...I somehow doubt we'll see a new TMNT cartoon on the air at all. This is it, folks.

I just expected 4kids to give the series some proper closure, after all the money they spent on it, you'd think they'd let the franchise go out with a bang than simply pulling the plug. Earlier this year the writers were interviewed and they didn't even think this would be the last season, hence why they even foreshadowed "The Shredder wars" stuff at the beginning of the season. What does that tell you?

Turtles Forever is quite a bang I assure you. Not one that ties up everything nicely but one that finishes the 2003 series off in a very epic manner.

Yes I imagine they didn't communicate well with their staff and many were left questioning why episode 13 of Back to the Sewers was the end.

Well you never know about the big 3 kids channels they're always changing their gameplan. We could see a new Ninja Turtles on Nicktoons, Disney XD or yes even Cartoon Network come time for the next movie.

And if this really is IT. I'm not really dissapointed as we got one of the best cartoons ever out of this generation of TMNT and I can't imagine they'll top that but I guess it's possible someone could some day.

TMNT is a comic franchise however and you can expect that even with no TV show or movie or merchandise we'll still have the turtles around in comic book form or some other venue. Afterall Mirage pretty much only produces TMNT stuff and they don't seem to be going away.

TMNT is still not anywhere near the level of DC and Marvel superheroes in popularity, there is no guarantee TMNT will get constantly relaunched like Batman, Superman, Spiderman and X-men are.

I remember when this show started way back in 2003, people were surprised that TMNT was even getting a second shot. Of course most of the original series fans never bothered to watch this show, and the new young kids who watched it simply weren't mass in number to make it a hit.

In the future a company will say, "Well how did the last TMNT cartoon do in the ratings?" and they'll look at the dismal ratings on 4kids and pass on it.

Its sad but what can you do. Ninja Turtles will never be what it was in the 80's and 90's for those of us who grew up with it back then. The younger generation truly missed out on a phenomenon, and now we're seeing it fade away again.

What the heck? Great, they already jumped the shark and we still have eight episodes left. Seriously, Superquest is not a top ten episode no matter how you look at it, and I can't believe it got a spot. Perhaps it's because kids these days are absolutely obsessed with MMORPGS - I dunno, but that doesn't excuse a poor choice like this. Who wants to bet that next week we'll get Race for Glory or some other below-average Fast Foward Episode?
