Production Order: Season 1, Episode 1

Writer: Seth MacFarlane, Richard Appel and Mike Henry
Director: Anthony Lioi

The newest FOX animated series is also the first spin-off from Family Guy. Cleveland Brown gets his own new show and it debuts tonight at 8:30 PM Eastern. With this show, Seth MacFarlane has three shows in primetime. We all wish we were so lucky. What will this show do to distinguish itself from Family Guy and American Dad? Tune in to find out. Here is the synopsis:

It was pretty "meh" overall. The teenage daughter Roberta was nice to look at, but she didn't do anything noteworthy the entire episode. The FG guys are just plain unable (or unwilling) to write for teenage girls.

The Cleveland Show pilot just came off as Family Guy-lite. Things may improve as the series progresses, but I'm not sure if I'm going to stick with the show to find out.

Might as well rename FOX's Sunday Night block to Fox Presents The Seth McFarland Program Block now that his shows make up 75% of it.

I found it okay. From beginning to end it was allright, I odn't expect the show to start off mega-awesome after the first episode.

Oh and I agree with the Djm about Rollo/Stewie, he was never meant to be like Stewie, he's a skirt-chaisng smart aleck. Same with Roberta, she's nothing like Meg.

One thing I was dissapointed was in the opening tehy switched from "black guy face" to "mustache face". Was it oging to offend people in the opening.

It probably met the same kind of backlash that the series itself received. "That the only African-American centered cartoon, is made, produced, and voiced by a white man."

I remember reading that somewhere, it may be from here... Meh!

ATTENTION: Numerous people in this thread have mentioned seeing this episode in a venue other than where one should, which is tonight's airing. Do not even mention, in passing, seeing it in an illegal manner, even if you don't give links. I'm not a General Animation mod but I've deleted the offending remarks. It'll be up to them if warnings are given. Now let's have no more of this. Thank you.

Anyway, I thought it was very average. No particularly hilarious moments, though that's to be expected for a pilot. Everyone's being introduced, after all. Seeing as American Dad started weak as well, I'm not going to write it off yet. Hopefully they play with the '70s sitcom tropes a bit more.

I did like Cleveland gritting his teeth through his whole threat to Federline, though.

I guess I'll give this show a chance. That bear bit looks pretty funny

Cleveland: Aahhh a Bear!

Bear: Aahh a Black man. Doesn't feel so good now does it!

That was what I saw in the promo. It made me LOL. Now if they were going to have it Fox Presents The Seth McFarland program block, mine as well add a Stewie and Brain spin off.

Heck, I liked it. Wasn't spectacular, but still had me laughing out loud at several moments. I'm still not sure Cleveland has what it takes to headline a show, but I'm not as worried as I was. I can definitely see potential for this to end up being a pretty decent show, at least.

And that theme song is all kinds of catchy.

The Internet = serious business.

Anyway, it was exactly like I expected, which is to say lousy. It was just as cliche, tired, and stereotypical as I thought it would be. It's kind of depressing how you expect something to be bad, and it turns out that way to a tee.
