The Cleveland Show - "Gone With the Wind" - Talkback [4/11]

Too many flatulence by Cleveland!

The karaoke parts were great.

To Cleveland's first ex-wife Loretta: We'll never forget you, and may you rest in peace.

I only watched one act of that episode. If obsessive farting was going to be one of the plots of the episode, then I decided not to watch any more of it. Are people in this world really stupid enough to actually find entertainment in non-stop farting? It's no wonder that my favorite cartoons are from an era when they couldn't do things like that. It sounds like it had a good B plot though (granted, I did not watch the whole thing so I cannot comment any further).

I loved Quagmire's appearance and it didn't feel force at all.
He also looked a lot more fluid than he did on Family Guy (even the Griffins did also!).

This episode was a lot better than the previous two.

It was said in the beginning of the first episode she got the house in the divorce.

The problem is that this meshes with the Cleveland Show's continuity, not family Guy's, which is why it's confusing some people. In "Spies Remiscent Of Us" we see Peter using Cleveland's old house (namly his bathroom) due to it being unoccupied until it was bought by Chevy Chase and Dan Akyrod. It's kind of weird when the spinoff has better continuity then the original show, even though the whole Loretta plot is a leftover from Family Guy.

You know I had heard at the beginning of the season that one of the last eps would be about Loretta's death (including a short Family Guy crossover) and Cleveland having to come to terms with his former wife's passing. I didn't expect it would be an episode so focused on farts though. Really I know Seth MacFarlane and his production team is obsessed with farts, and know that probably extends to Michael Henry and the production team of this show, but really, putting 10+ jokes about it in a row is pretty bad. Also the bit with Roberta in the opening is coming dangerous close to Meg abuse territory IMHO, something I don't think this show should strive for. And sadly the most interesting aspect about this episode (Loretta's passing) isn't given the focus time it deserved. this needed a full fledged crossover (though the bits with Quagmire were good with him mentioning American Dad and calling Cleveland a Joey esque show. Hey Cleveland, why don't you bother proving him wrong by making your own show unique?) or at the very least more of a focus on Cleveland's life with Loretta beforehand. There were some decent moments (Tim and his wife preformence, Rollo joking about closing the casket with Cleveland in it, Cleveland Jr handling his mother passing with actual maturity and Cleveland not sure if Jr is being smart or stupid about it, Cleveland having survivor's guilt, and Loretta's ending montage) but that's all I can say about it. I really only watched this show for when hearing about the crossover and uh... that wasn't much of a reason to watch this show.

You know what? I think Loretta's death scene, with the "look at her gross boobs" and the sex with her corpse and all of that, is the point where this stuff stops being funny and ironically obnoxious to me and starts being grim and depressing and actually obnoxious. Family Guy and spinoffs have been poking at and prodding toward that point for years and, yeah, yeah this is it.

That said, it makes me wish for a Mythbusters episode where they show the likelihood of a person dying in a bathtub when falling from that height in real life.

Decent episode. The Loretta bits and cameos were essentially the highlights, but other than that... not much else.

RIP, Loretta. I won't care, but some might.

I actually fought this episode was pretty funny, even though that may be because after a while, I tuned out the farting. I really think someone should start bringing charges against the Griffins. AGAIN.

If you ask me some of these characters are already memorable and even without any appearances of FG characters TCS still makes me laugh.
Seriously, FG characters have only made three appearances, not including the first episode.

For some reason, I wasn't as grossed out by the farting like some people. But it was annyoing.

The one thing I disliked about the episode was after Loretta died, Griffins all laughed at her. That was really in poor taste.

Eh, if she was an innocent, likable character there would be a problem with it. But given that she cheated on Cleveland multiple times and took his house from him, then it seems kindof well-deserved.

Note, kind of.
What Loretta did to Cleveland was wrong, and I don't really like her that much to begin with.
I just didn't like seeing her die on the spot (with her neck twisted :ack:), and then everyone laughs at her because she has gross boobs. It was the one thing that made me groan.
