The Chronicles of Narnia Voyage of the Dawn Treader first official trailer is here!!!

No, Susan and Peter are both absent from 'Dawn Treader'. According to Aslan in 'Prince Caspian' they are too old to cross over.

Spoiler regarding the fate of Susan. WARNING: also contains details of the ending of the entire Narnian Chronicles.

Susan and Peter never get back to Narnia proper. Peter reappears in the final book 'The Last Battle' and gets into the heavenly version of Narnia. Susan gets older in the real world and starts to deny Narnia's existance and her time there. She starts to care more about boys and fashion, so doesn't get into heaven with the rest of them. At the end of The Last Battle, the entire Pevensie family (including the never seen before Parents who die in a train crash) are in heaven, but Susan is not. She is, one assumes, left alone in the real world when her entire family die.

This is, along with the treatment of the dark skinned Calormen, possibly the worst thing in the entire Chronicles for me, and an incredibly unsubtle way of C S Lewis to warn people about the danger of turning away from religion.

Have just seen the trailer and Peter and Susan do appear briefly at the end as does the White Witch (trying to tempt Edmund again) - none of these characters appear in the book at all.

It looks as though severe liberties have been taken with the storyline again. There is a mention of Narnia once again being in peril in the trailer which is definitely not the case in the book - the whole point of Caspian heading off on his voyage was because Narnia was at peace.

The book's storyline works fine as it is - an epic voyage with all sorts of action, so why muck around with it?
