The Chronicles Of Narnia : Prince Caspian

Im excited but I still wish they'd done the films in chronologicial order starting with the fantastic 'The Magicians Nephew' (my fave Narnia story)
 
Urgh, this means they'll be doing Voyage of the Dawn Treader soon. My least favourite story.

I agree the_charmed_one, the magicians nephew is good, and imo only succeeded by The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe
 
Sorry im actually quite new with The Chronicles Of Narnia i thought there was only one The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe.....

So in the books theres more.....could somebody tell me the name of all the books.....thank you!!
 
I used to think that too until I heard the BBC radio adaptation, which was wonderful.


Looking forward to seeing Reepicheap in Price Caspian.


Still like Magician's Nephew best of course!
 
I agree - tho' it's frustrating because Magicians is the one I really want to see the most on screen. But that and Horse can, as you say, be filmed out of sequence (although I'd assume Noah Huntley and the others would be playing the grown-up foursome... but then it's a long time since I've read Horse and I can't remember how many years after Lion it was set?). All the others are reliant on a fixed sequence of timing due to the overlap of all the children.
 
This is really good news. "The Lion, the witch and the wardrobe" was brilliant. I will really look forward to the sequel being released, even if it is probably nearly 2 years away.
 
according to my narnian time line horse and his boy is set 14 years after the lion, the witch and the wardrobe and then a year later leave narnia only to return in prince caspian

Thanks Rach! That probably increases the odRAB for the 'older Edmund, Lucy' etc from Lion to be in Horse when it's eventually filmed - it's probably easier for a 30-something to act down to late 20s/early 30s I'd have thought...
 
Hmmm, maybe it's because I really disliked the girl who played Lucy in the TV versions that I really disliked this story in particular.

I really enjoyed The Silver Chair.
 
I'm just re-reading the books, it's been about 10 years since I last touched upon them and am currently on "The Last Battle". I'd love to see all 7 films made, but I'm not sure how they could do "The Magician's Nephew" and "A Horse and His Boy" and still attract the viewers to the franchise. It's an odd saga to make into a franchise really, with only Aslan a recurring character across the books, and he's CGI!
 
I have just seen this on Dark Horizons website about Prince Caspian:

"Dean Wright, the Oscar-nominated visual-effects supervisor for "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe", told SCI FI Wire that he and his colleagues are already looking ahead to the sequel, "Prince Caspian".

Wright also confirmed that the sequel will bring back the main animal character, Aslan (voiced in the first film by Liam Neeson), as well as a host of familiar and new creatures - "There's new hero creatures, specifically Badger and his mouse, Reepicheep. Again, there's huge battle sequences. I know from talking to Andrew just briefly before he left: He wants to make this bigger and better than The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe".

Director Andrew Adamson hasn't written the sequel's script yet, but Wright said the effects team will begin computer "pre-visualization" of scenes from Prince Caspian "probably in a couple of months, and then full on into preproduction. You know, the film is going to kick off before you know it, and we'll be going like gangbusters, probably, I would say, within the next two to four months".

"One of the challenges [is that] it's described in the text that he does increase in size. At one point, he's finally referenced as being the size of an elephant. That's where interpretations of the filmmakers are going to come into play, how to pull it off... [Also] ee successfully avoided Aslan getting doused in water in this. But as soon as we get into the Dawn Treader [a ship that figures in Caspian] and that sort of stuff, it's going to be harder to avoid" says Wright."
 
The Magician's Nephew is the best book, definitely. I think it would translate well onto the big screen.

I love the Narnia books. The ending always upsets me though :cry: (even though I think it's supposed to be a happy ending).
 
The Magician's Nephew is brilliant I even prefer it to Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe, which is also great.

But am I the only person that was completely disappointed with the film? I just felt it had no heart to it. It left me cold.
 
Once upon a time I thought LWW was the only one then i came upon a magical set of books with the entire set of chronicles. There are definitely some great stories in the other ones, in fact I prefer some of them to LWW. Unfortunately having read them a long time ago I do not remember too much. It is quite fortunate that those are being paid attention for once as the majority of people only know about LWW. For this reason, I really hope they do the books justice. Reading the set overall, I found it quite sad with a kind of forlorn happiness. Especially with the little things the reader knows but some of the characters don't.

PLease make it good and not just a hollywood cash cow.
 
i actually thought LWW film was rubbish

it looked really cheap, some of the effects were atrocious, the acting by the kiRAB was embarrassing...
 
It seems they're doing it in order of publication ... LWW was written first, then Prince Caspian and then Dawntreader. Magicians Nephew was written as a prequel afterwarRAB, along with the other books in the series.
