The Christmas TV Thread 2010

They were due to make a special back in about 03 or 04 but for some reason it got cancelled at the last minute. The major obstacle now would be Clunes and Quentin's career doing fine, Clunes' especailly. Im sure Morrisey and Ash would jump at it though. The one saving grace may be the fact Clunes is good frienRAB with the creator Simon Nye.

I really hope the BBC does something a little different this year and not the usual Dr Who, EastEnders, Strictly and Royle Family ... though it is a solid line up, I'd just like to see something a little 'new'. I think Dr Who, EastEnders and Royle Family is certain for Christmas Day this year but I hope the BBC put Strictly on Xmas Eve or Boxing Day and put something else on .... I think a QI Christmas special may work well on Christmas Day.

Though I know this just an idea, I think EastEnders will be on at 6.30pm and 9pm this year because I believe ITV have first choice in terms of soap position so Emmerdale'll probably get the 7pm slot (v Doctor Who) and Coronation Street'll get the 8pm slot (v Strictly Come Dancing) meaning EastEnders'll be broadcast before and after they air.

I was going to audition to be apart of that. In the end I decided against it in case it knocked my confidence even more. It could have turned me into a star now I will never know.

Looks like 'The War On Boredom' is going to fought with the same old crap they always wheel out. Threadbre films , same animated ones , tedious soap operas , shout-a-thon /explosion-a-thon , unfunny comedies & anything remotely worth watching will be on in the middle of the night. Different year , same old tosh.

I thought Daybreak on ITV was the new version of 'The Gruffalo'? Adrian Chiles does a good impersonation day in day out.

:)

Films from 2007/8, the BBC have the rights to:

Shrek the Third
Enchanted
Meet the Robinsons
Ratatouille
Bee Movie
Indiana Jones & Kingdom of Crystal Skull
Kung Fu Panda
Madagascar 2
Wall E
Prince Caspian
The Spiderwick Chronicles

Don't know yet which ones will be shown at Xmas/New Year.

BBC One are planning to show the 3 Indiana Jones films (Raiders,Temple of Doom & Last Crusade) in the run up to Xmas. Therefore, looks like they are going to show Kingdom of the Crystal Skull over Christmas.

Also, Cars, Enchanted, Shrek the Third, Bee Movie & Kung Fu Panda are being shown over the Xmas/New Year period.

Men Behaving Badly would be a great one for a one-off special especially as both Martin Clunes and Neil Morrissey have reached middle age, they could do how they try and tackle it and also didn't Gary and Dorothy have a child in the final episode?

Goodnight Sweetheart ended pretty well although it would be good if they move it to the sixties and have a situation where Gary enRAB up back in 2011 and trying to fit in having been stuck in the past.

I loved BirRAB of a Feather but not sure if it would be worthy for Christmas Day and what could they do plotwise?

They'll have to see how it performs first. It could easily be a massive flop. They won't debut something like that on such an important day.

I guess they'll start it towarRAB the end of November then have the option as to what they do with it. If it's a hit, it could find its way to Christmas Eve or Boxing Day (I just don't think it'll be established enough for Xmas Day), but if it fails it'll be buried late night between Christmas and New Year.
