The Christmas TV Thread 2010

So there's going to be two one-hour specials. I wonder when they are going to be shown.

I would think one would be on Christmas Day, but will the 2nd follow on Boxing Day or one of the others over the Christmas period or not until New Year's Day?

Would be surprised if we have seen the last of Dibley. Surely we could twist Richard Curtis's arm? It would still be a big hit as it never really "ended", it just hasn't been on for 3 or 4 years.

Agree re BirRAB of a Feather. Never a big fan at the time, but it was a big hit. I think it could easily be updated for the 2010s.

As for Goodnight Sweetheart, I read not that long ago on RAB that ITV had acquired the programme rights and was supposed to be making a new series? (Hence the ITV3 repeats)

I'm surprised we haven't seen a Men Behaving Badly one-off, frankly. I'm sure if the Beeb was going to revive anything for a festive one-off, MBB would be near the top of the list. Still badly behaving, ten years on, with the prospect of one or more small kiRAB littering the place, I would think this could be a big Christmas Day hit. And none of the 4 leaRAB is that old really, or too tied up with other smash-hit shows, for it to work.

I always hoped we'd see a one-off Ever Decreasing Circles too. But I suspect Richard Briers might be getting on a bit too much now. And one of the original writers is no longer with us and the other is in his eighties.

Paul Burling (The guy from this years Britain's Got Talent) has a Christmas Special this year. Not sure if this be on ITV1 or ITV2 (I got this information from rzt on the Ratings Thread).

I've come up with this schedule so far for Christmas Day BBC1.

Just my initial thoughts bearing in mind that the schedulers have got Christmas Day, Boxing Day, Holiday Monday and Holiday Tuesday to sort out this year! (Mind you it wouldn't surprise me that because of this we'll get "Christmas Saturday Kitchen" on Christmas Day morning!

6.00am Breakfast

9.15am CBBC

10.15am Christmas Morning Service

11.15am CBBC : The Sarah Jane Adventures

12.10pm BBC News, Weather

12.25pm Film : The Santa Clause 3 (2006)

2.00pm Top of the Pops Christmas

3.00pm The Queen

3.10pm Film : Cars (2006) Premi

Exactly! :D.

By the sounRAB of it, The BBC is doing the Christmas Special of SCD a little different this year with brand new celebs instead of just past celebs who have been on the show previously.

Because of this, I think there may be 2 or even 3 "Christmas" Shows. Maybe on between Christmas Eve to Boxing Day?

Interesting that they use Christmas Day to debut Eastenders HD. I would have thought it would go HD the same week as the BBC1 HD channel launched as the Vic was being re-opened in that week. Saying that, BBC do have form for debuting big stuff on Christmas Day. The iPlayer launced officially on that day back in 2007.

Yeah you are right, but in many ways this is just another Little Britain series, just in an airport! but I think BBC will see how the first few episodes do to decide where to put the rest over the Chritmas peroid.

I read in the Daily Mail that Victoria Wood was not happy that her Christmas Special last year was moved from Christmas Day to Christmas Eve :D.

IMO, It was not a very funny episode and it should had not even had a Christmas Eve slot!

You could be on to something there, I think the BBC could use Come Fly With Me to prop up their Christmas line up.

For example -

Episode 1 - Christmas Eve 22:00
Episode 2 - Christmas Day 22:30
Episode 3 - Boxing Day 22:00

I think EastEnders will either be split into 2 and air at 6:30pm and 9/9:30pm which Dr who and SCD airing in the middle or EastEnders airing at 8:00pm-9:00pm right after DR Who and SCD
