The Christmas TV Thread 2010

The Graham Norton Christmas show is a good idea! Has it been comissioned?

I even think it would be great on Christmas Day in the late comedy slot after The Royle Family.

brill to watch. I feel all christmassy now! my faves were the mid 90's (prob cos thats when I watched most TV!) and the snowflake ones. BBC2 ones havea more christmassy feel about them though. THought the 12 days of Christmas oens werec lever. Don't like the prog specific ones.

Cash in the attic- that old christmas favourite!

They are supposed to be making a series, not sure when.

James Buckley currently shooting the movie version of The Inbetweeners but there's still 3 months to go before Christmas and the 2001/2002/2003 Only Fools were all shot very close to Christmas 2001

I am sure that Only Fools used to refer to events that had happened in Christmas's past so maybe a good idea to bring some of those stories to life.

Its a decent idea and I really like that schedule Only_You. Its true that BBC1 dominates from 3pm onwarRAB with viewers choosing the BBC to watch The Queen then the big movie premiere that follows. Having Corrie at 3:10pm would probably help ITV keep some viewers that would float to the BBC on that day. Big shows at 3:10pm have happened before Only Fools and Horses had a special (Miami Twice I think) and that got 15m.

I know, it's still August (just) but Christmas is less than 4 months away :D.

Anyone know any programmes that have been comfirmed for Christmas 2010?

I can't wait for the ITV2 Panto's like Aladdin. About 10 years old now but I saw them for the first time last year. Really enjoyed them all :)

The Graham Norton Show has been recommissioned for 12 new shows going out on Friday nights from October 22nd. So it is hugely likely it will appear on both Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve!

A White(Xmas)Chapel special would be good.

Plot?

There's been a series of crucifixions dahhn the manor. Someone's impersonating the Romans ...

;-)

It isn't yet confirmed though that the Indiana jones movie will actually be on is it? I am just wondering as I know we are all speculating for fun but it would be kind of disappointing if it isn't on now that it's been discussed so thoroughly!

I notice in the Sky Magazine Movie supplement that Nativity and A Christmas Carol are only on Sky Box Office and not on any of the movie channels. Could this suggest that Nativity! will indeed premiere on BBC1 and A Christmas Carol on Disney Cinemagic?

With regarRAB to BBC2:

6.00am Cbeebies
7.00 CBBC
9.00 Great Railway Journeys
9.30 Who Do You Think you Are
10.30 Around The World in Eighty Days (Children in Need 2009 series)
11.30 FILM: The Nun's Story
2.15 FILM: White Christmas
4.10 Ballet or Opera TBA
6.50 The Queen
7.00 Dad's Army (Turkey Dinner)
7.40 Porridge
8.20 Dragons Den Special
9.20 QI (Christmas Special repeat with extended bits)
10.00 The Road to Coronation Street (BBC4 repeat)
11.15 Grumpy Old Men at Christmas (rpt)
12.15 FILM: TBA

It would be the perfect time to split the series - finish it just before the Christmas break then bring it back in January.

I think the Christmas special could do rather well.

His latest series on at the moment is not doing that great in ratings terms but I think if put in a decent slot at Christmas, it could get decent ratings.

Yes, that would be a good idea, although BSkyB have been cosying up to Corden and others, possibly with one eye on poaching the show, as they tried to with series three. :(

Surely ITV'll air Benidorm before Christmas because of the advertising income it could bring? It'd most definitely be more of a money spinner for them airing, say, the Thursday before Christmas than it would be on Christmas Day itself. I think ITV will air something like Marple/Poirot/MiRABomer Murders on Christmas Day, which doesn't make much in terms of advertising but does in international sales. That way they don't lose out too much.

Thanks so much for posting this CD.

To me, the thing that most struck me was "closedown" time!.

When we lived in a television world of 4 channels (pre 97) and every night our screens went blank...

And as wizzywick says, there were some great memories....
