There is a recreation center at the university I go to where you can rent equipment for free. I used to go down there and play badmitton. Recently I rented a racket and started playing and half way through I noticed there was a crack on the racket. I didn't think it would break but it did just from swinging it through the air. They gave me another and it had the same problem, I didn't really notice it though because you can't really tell. It broke the same way and when I took it back the guy gave me an evil look. He put a hold on my account and didn't mention it to me. Now I have to pay $40 or I can't rent stuff. I talked to the guy in charge there about the situation and he gave me a look look like I was full of shit. I didn't think he would believe that they basically just broke. He said if it was cracked before I got it that the people working there would have noticed because they inspect them each time somebody returns them. The chances of me getting two rackets that break just from swinging them through the air have got to be incredibly slim. Fuck that's some really bad luck.
 
Yep. That is pretty shitty luck. But, what can ya do? The college is going to squeeze money out of you some how. I suggest paying the fee and assuming the position. :tongue:
 
um isnt a badmitton racket like... $10 at walmart? just go buy one and you wont have to worry bout it being cracked or getting dirty looks :D
 
I'd agree that just puying your own racket would be better. You won't have to keep renting anything, you won't have to pay the $40 bucks (which isn't huge, but a pain in the butt), and if it breaks you won't get dirty looks from anyone cause the air broke it. Your argument with them is just how observant are these people that look over these rackets? They must look over a lot of equipment per day, they are bound to overlook a tiny crack that may not be too obvious unless studied. Most of the time, they just take a glance over the rackets just to make sure they appear to be in one piece. Small cracks are very easy to over look. SOmethign tells me they didn't not look over as closely as the boy you were talking to believed they were. You can try to argue that way, but it's his friends against your word. Chances are, you'd still lose the battle. This is why bringing your own stuff is worth the pay. With the cost of renting the equipment and having to pay the extra fee for every broken racket of theirs you come across, you'll be saving a lot buy purchasing your own equipment.
 
I paid it a couple days ago. They originally put a hold on my account without telling me. I found out the next time I tried to rent something. So I decided I just wouldn't rent anything up there anymore because I didn't want to pay it. If I really wanted to play badminton again I'd just buy a walmart racket. Well I went to enroll a couple days ago and found out you can't enroll with a hold on your account so I went and paid it off. Live and learn I guess.
