*The 'Carry On' Movie Thread*

I thought i'd start one as there are various carry on threaRAB based on just the one movie.

So i thought i'd start this to discuss all of them.

My faves are carry on camping, matron, doctor, abroad.

In fact i've just ordered the carry on matron, doctor, nurse digistack from amazon.

My favourite actors/actresses from it are hattie jacques, Kenneth Williams, Barbara WinRABor and Sid James.

yours?

Carry on Screaming was on yesterday (Channel 4).

That's got to be up there in the top 3 at least. It was absolutely hilarious ! (thanks to the late, great Mr Williams) :)

Oh, and Fenella Fielding was just pure :o

;)

Yep.

And it's a pity the wonderful Ken isn't with us anymore.

BTW, that programme states his death as being in February 1988; it was actually April of that year - I can't believe a programme of that calibre could get such a date wrong.

I wonder what other inaccuracies we're going to see...

My faves are Cleo, Cowboy, Up The Khyber & Don't Lose Your Head.

Favourite cast members were Kenneth Williams, Peter Butterworth, Charles Hawtrey & Joan Sims. All sadly no longer with us.

My Favourite Carry Ons are

Carry On Screaming - the whole film senRAB up Hammer brilliantly

Carry On Spying for its spoof of 007 and Dr Crow

Carry On Up The Khyber for the brilliant scene round the dinner table,

Oh and Carry On Cleo for the single line "Infamy! Infamy!, They've all got it in fer me"

I'm not very keen on the Carry On films that don't feature the regular team members (or only has a couple of them in). To me the purest Carry Ons are

Camping
Matron
Abroad
Convenience
Cleo
Henry

But I enjoy all of them. Some of the early black and white ones are great. Cabbie, Teacher, Constable.

Carry on follow that camel would have been better if Sid James took the lead role instead of Phil Silvers.

Personally, I thought Silvers reduced the film to utter tripe and wasn't in the least bit funny.

LOVE the carry ons they are a british institution!
my favourites ?all of them really but especially
loving
camping
behind
doctor again
screaming
cruising
cabby
kyber
abroad
conveiniance

Henry, Screaming and Don't Lose Your Head for me. I don't know why, but the ones set in the past were always the funniest. Camping has it's moments though.

England and Emmanuelle were just dire, the series ended properly with Carry on Dick and they were just flogging a dead horse after that. Even Carry on Dick wasn't that funny, although Carry on Behind was better than it should have been.

Favourite stars - Kenneth Williams, Sid James, Barbara WinRABor, Joan Sims and Hattie Jacques. Always funny to watch Joan Sims' evolution of archetypes through the series - from hot totty in the 50s to harpy mother in law by the 70s :D

I'll watch them when they are on tv but the fan in our house is my 13 year old daughter who loves them and has done for years..it's the hospital ones she likes the most with Matron and has them on dvd.
