Saw this movie tonight and love it love it.
His father. Sigh. That was one of the saddest parts, IMO. Realizing you have to kill your son to make things better?
D'you think he "closed the circle" that way on purpose? Evan stopped because what he wanted to do was make sure Kaylee would be okay. Then he burned his journals to make sure he wouldn't do it again. His fahter could have decided that him being in a mental hospital with his wife and son safe was the best he could do, and "give up". My friend says he might have been stopped- he WOULD have done it again, but couldn't.
 
I agree, I remember the first time seeing it, I gasped in the theatre at that part and it was about 5 in the morning when I saw it, but let me tell ya, watching this movie will seriously wake you up if you are any bit sleepy watching a movie at the theatre at 5 in the morning
 
Wow...You fell down laughing everytime the main character was on the screen? Must've been some fun.

I don't even LIKE Amy Smart and this movie looks really good. I like psychological thrillers. If it does well, it could be a turning point for Ashton in his career.
 
I know. Animal cruelty in movies suck. I can't stand it. Actually, this is quite a disturbing movie.

-Child molestation
-Animal cruelty
-The baby killing himself in the womb
-Some of the things Thumper says & does
-Evan's original name being Chris Treborn as in "ChrisTreborn"

I'm glad they changed to Evan. Very, very glad. Dark movie.
 
yeh but life always doesnt end on a good note

thats what annoys me about some movies they always have to end it so everyone feels all warm and fuzy inside...weird
 
The dirctors ending sounds better to me.

It pissed me off to no end that he didn't go after at the end of the theatrical one. The directors cut seems so much more heart-wrenching to me, then again, I read Mystic River and loved it even though the end was possibly the saddest thing I've ever read.

I seem to like depressing entertainment. :lol:
 
Now I'm really curious about this director's cut too.

I loved the last scene where Evan and Kaleigh passed each other, and the partial recognition. The song fit perfectly, and for some reason I loved the shot of Kaleigh walking in front of the camera in the end, not knowing just what Evan went through for her, for himself. And seeing Evan's expression as he walked away, it got me.

That Tommy kid pissed the hell out of me. Great acting.

Here's a thought. Evan gets quite a chance to play God in everyone's life. The "lesson" I understood from this film is that people are very influenced by their environment. Change some factors in Kayleigh's life and she becomes a prostitute rather than a College student. Is the environment stronger than free will (genes, or what makes up the person) ? One may argue Evan was strong (didn't let environment stand in his way to, quite literally change his destiny) because he made the decisions to go back and change everyone's life, but the rest of the characters seem to act like pawns, as a response to Evan's actions.

..and I saw it today and it was amazing! Ashton blew me away! So fine. Him and Amy were great.
 
lol hey now! what is that supposed to mean?! I got scared by The Ring for 8 months or more. does that mean this movie is going to scare me even more?!

They definitely couldn't because it deals with very dark subjects that they couldn't make PG-13 so they'd have to change pretty much the whole movie.



Don't worry about that. I hate when they show animals being hurt or killed. There is a little bit in this one--not a lot--but they don't really show it and it's not too bad. You probably won't even have to look away because I didn't have to and like I said I hate that stuff.

I liked this movie a lot and everybody I know who saw it liked it a lot too. Not only that but the theater staff kept telling us how much they liked it when they saw which movie we were going to (they had an advanced screening last night). Don't believe what some of the critics are saying about it being a horrible movie because it's really not even a bad movie. Ahston did wonderful IMO and I'm not one of his fans either. I suggest you definitely go see it if it looks interesting to you because it did to me and I liked it. I'd give it a 4 out of 5.
 
I watched this movie last night and I couldnt take my eyes off the screen. It was so damn good. I havent seen a twisted like movie in ages and this was just perfect. Ashton did a great acting job on his character. I loved all the flashbacks they did and the ending was shocking. I just loved it :D
 
There's a lot of movies out there that wouldn't work if they weren't rated R, and this might be one of them. The subject matter is dark, and from the trailers, the raiting makes sense.

I understand where you're coming from though. I remember it always being a pain when I wanted to see a rated R movie and I couldn't because of my age. My parents never cared, but most of the theatres I went to wouldn't let me in. They're pretty strict about that now.

I'm thinking of seeing this movie with a friend. We talked about seeing it when we first saw the previews and his birthday's coming up, so it's perfect timing.
 
I totally love this movie. I can watch it over and over :) It's great but i think Ashton doesn't fit there :P every time i saw him on screen i fell down laughing (That '70s Show comes to my mind :D) It was weird 'cause people around me were scowling at me with a dumb look on their face :P

My friend told me she saw an advanced screening and said it was totally not what you would expect... She said it is one of those movies that just turns your stomach and makes you think really hard..

She said that you will laugh and cry and jump out of your seat. Which to me is a good combination in a movie, but she also said if your light hearted, or have a weak stomach and get scared easy not to go see it. She said her head was buried half the time and that it bugged her really bad after seeing it.

She said Ashton was like a complete 180 that if we had never seen him do comedy that his performance would blow us away. She said IHO that he was great and she said Amy shined throughout the whole thing, very versatle and believeable...

I can believe what she says, she wouldn't lie to me, but she said if The Ring scared me, that this would flip me out. So I am not sure what I am going to do yet, cause I love animals, but I love thriller's, I am torn...
 
I'm not a big Ashton fan, but I'll definately be seeing this movie this weekend. I hope it's a good movie and not having the trailor making it look good when it could possibly be bad. I hate when that happens.
